About this item

Solidified knotgrease made from a mixture of magically resonant materials. Craftable item.

A short string is attached to this lump.

Quickly coats armament, adding heavy magic damage to attacks, but with a brief effect, owing to its small size.

Believed to have once been bestowed upon low-ranking Carian knights in lieu of the fellowship's characteristic swords.

1. From Castle Front, cross the northeastern bridge toward Castle Ensis. Pass or defeat the Troll Knight at the far end, then climb the large stairs on the left.
2. Follow the path left at the top. Soldiers and dogs wait around the fires and stairway, so draw them out before climbing farther.
3. Continue through the cave beyond the campfire and climb the ledges at the far exit. A Black Knight patrols the rising path ahead.
4. Enter the open stone building on the left of the slope and open its chest for the cookbook. The closed checkpoint gate is farther uphill.
5. From Checkpoint grace, retrace the downhill approach to the building. Neither opening the gate nor defeating Rellana is required.
6. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at the Church of Elleh if Item Crafting is unavailable.
7. Collect 1 Knot Resin, 1 Glintslab Firefly and 1 String, then open Item Crafting outside combat and select Drawstring Royal Magic Grease. One batch makes 1.

Notes

• Adds 135 Magic attack power for 25 seconds and applies faster than ordinary Royal Magic Grease.
• This is a flat addition rather than a percentage of your weapon's damage. It does not increase with Intelligence, and the target's defenses still determine the HP damage dealt.
• Use a compatible weapon while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality usually allow grease; elemental and status affinities usually do not.
• A different grease or weapon enchantment replaces the coating on the same weapon. It does not add a second weapon buff beside the first.
• Finish your equipment changes before applying it. Switching away from the coated weapon can remove the coating.
• The stronger coating expires sooner, so apply it close to the opening where you intend to attack. The ordinary version lasts 60 seconds but adds 120 rather than 135 Magic attack power.
• Each craft makes one from one Knot Resin, one Glintslab Firefly and one String.
• Glintstone Fireflies and Root Resin are different materials and cannot replace the named ingredients. Craft outside combat; using the prepared coating does not consume the cookbook.
