1. Collect the Academy Glintstone Key from behind the dragon west of the academy, then use it to pass the sealed academy entrance.
2. At Main Academy Gate, walk southeast past the blue seal without interacting with it.
3. Continue down the long bridge toward the Isolated Merchant.
4. Buy the book for 3,500 runes.
5. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is still unavailable. Finding a cookbook alone does not open the crafting menu.
6. Collect 1 Root Resin, 1 String and 1 Trina's Lily, then open Item Crafting outside combat and select Drawstring Soporific Grease. One batch makes 1.

Notes

• Quickly adds 42 base Sleep buildup for 15 seconds. Each attack applies buildup based on its status modifier, rather than guaranteeing sleep on contact.
• Susceptible enemies can fall asleep once the meter fills. Later attacks can wake them, so use the opening to heal, reposition or prepare a deliberate attack instead of swinging without a plan.
• Boss reactions vary. Some only stagger briefly, and immune enemies cannot be put to sleep with repeated applications.
• Arcane can improve the added buildup when the coated weapon has Arcane scaling, including Ripple Blade and Ripple Crescent Halberd. Raising Arcane with an ordinary weapon that lacks that scaling does not improve this coating.
• This is ordinary Sleep, separate from the Eternal Sleep effect of the later grease. Its recipe uses Trina's Lily and Root Resin rather than Deep-Purple Lily and Knot Resin.
• Use a weapon that allows grease. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality usually permit it; elemental and status affinities usually prevent it. Some unique weapons have their own rules.
• This uses the weapon-buff slot. Another grease, weapon enchantment or coating skill replaces it instead of adding a second coating. Switching away from the weapon can remove it.
• Apply it to the weapon you intend to fight with. It does not coat every equipped armament or add its effect to unrelated spells.
• Each application consumes one grease and costs no FP. Carry up to 30, with another 600 in storage.
• Each craft makes one and uses 1 Root Resin, 1 String and 1 Trina's Lily. The cookbook stays in your inventory.
