In-game description

Solidified knotgrease made from a mixture of bone shards. Craftable item.

Coats armament, imparting a festive incantation that grants the wielder a scant few runes on landing attacks. The effect lasts only for a short time.

The delightful festival is an old tradition; one old enough for the Erdtree to tacitly tolerate its endurance.

Where to find

Crafting after obtaining Battlefield Priest's Cookbook [2]

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Fort of Reprimand

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Battlefield Priest's Cookbook [2]
  • Ingredients per batch: 1 Knot Resin and 1 Blessed Bone Shard
  • Defeat Black Knight Edredd
  1. From Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus, follow the highway south. Ride around the soldiers fighting the Ghostflame Dragon and continue through the passage at the southern end of their battlefield.
  2. Activate Moorth Highway, South grace in front of Fort of Reprimand, then enter the fort's main gate. Deal with the courtyard Omenkiller or draw it away before exploring the gallows and doorways.
  3. Take the doorway at the back-right corner of the courtyard. Follow the interior passage to the stairs leading upward; the parallel lower path and cage rooms lead to other loot.
  4. Climb the stairs to the upper wall. At the top, turn back toward the stairs and take the further steps to Fort of Reprimand grace so you have a nearby checkpoint.
  5. Return to the top of the first stairs and enter the large hall ahead. Defeat Black Knight Edredd inside, watching for his flying twinblade dive.
  6. Go up the steps at the back of his room and climb the ladder to the roof. Climb the second ladder on the rooftop tower, then open the chest at the top for Battlefield Priest's Cookbook [2].
  7. With the Crafting Kit and one of each ingredient, open Item Crafting outside combat and prepare Festive Grease. Apply it to your compatible equipped weapon before fighting.

Notes

  • Adds a fixed 100 Holy attack power to the coated weapon for 60 seconds. It also grants 25 runes when qualifying weapon hits connect, separate from the rune reward for defeating an enemy.
  • The rune trigger has a short delay between payments. A fast combination or an attack through several enemies should not be counted as 25 runes for every contact.
  • The added Holy attack power does not scale with Faith or a seal's Incant Scaling. The actual damage still depends on the attack and the target's Holy defense; 100 attack power does not mean exactly 100 extra HP damage on every hit.
  • Use a weapon and affinity that allow ordinary coatings. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality usually do; elemental and status affinities usually prevent them, with particular unique-weapon exceptions.
  • Shares the weapon-buff slot with other greases and weapon enchantments. A competing coating replaces it, and changing the coated weapon can remove the effect. Old Lord's Talisman does not extend this consumable.
  • Each craft makes one with one Knot Resin and one Blessed Bone Shard after obtaining Battlefield Priest's Cookbook [2]. Applying it consumes the prepared grease without an FP cost; you can carry ten.
  • Two prepared copies can be looted beside the Footsoldiers in Fort of Reprimand's cage-room passage. The recipe is in the separate tower chest beyond Edredd, so finding the grease does not unlock crafting.
