One of the sorceries of the Carian royal family.

Creates a defensive arch of magic glintblades overhead, which automatically attack nearby foes.

This sorcery can be cast while in motion.

Bestowed upon the enchanted Carian knights, who combined this art with their swordsmanship to maintain pressure upon their foes, striking in waves of steel and sorcery.

Before you go

• Have 2,500 runes.
• Give the Royal House Scroll to the teacher you will buy from.

1. From Agheel Lake South, ride southeast up the slope toward the enemy camp on the higher ground.
2. Look for the tall ruined structure on the camp's eastern side. Use the rocks behind it to climb onto its top, where a sorcerer overlooks the camp. Loot the corpse on the ledge for the Royal House Scroll.
3. Go to the Church of Vows on the raised ground in eastern Liurnia, northeast of Raya Lucaria Academy. From the Artist's Shack in Liurnia, follow the road north and take the uphill branch toward the ruined church.
4. Speak to Miriel, the enormous turtle wearing a white mitre inside the church.
5. Give Miriel the Royal House Scroll, then buy Glintblade Phalanx for 2,500 runes. Sellen and Seluvis are alternative teachers while their shops are available.

Notes

• Creates five floating blades for 18 FP. Requires 22 Intelligence and one memory slot, and can be cast while moving or riding Torrent.
• Each blade has Magic attack power equal to 60% of Sorcery Scaling. Five connections total 300% before defenses, but each projectile is resolved separately.
• This is the cheaper, lower-requirement phalanx. Carian Phalanx creates more blades, while Greatblade Phalanx uses three larger blades with much higher stance damage.
• Buy it for 2,500 runes after giving Royal House Scroll to a teacher. Handing over the scroll unlocks the purchase rather than teaching the spell for free.
• The floating blades follow you and launch when an enemy is in front of you and close enough. Face away to delay their launch while preparing your next move.
• This is a staff-cast sorcery, separate from the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War. It does not add a follow-up thrust to your weapon.
• Another phalanx replaces the active arch, including the other phalanx sorceries and the weapon skills Glintblade Phalanx and Tremendous Phalanx. Recasting does not let you stack several arches.
• Blades can collide with walls and doorframes before reaching an enemy. Prepare them after passing through a narrow doorway or boss mist if the scenery would destroy them.
• Carian Glintblade Staff gives this spell a 15% damage bonus while held in an active hand. Carian Glintstone Staff's different sword-sorcery bonus does not apply.
• Damage uses the casting staff's Sorcery Scaling. Intelligence supplies that scaling on an ordinary Intelligence staff; hybrid staffs use their own supported attributes.
• It cannot be charged. Godfrey Icon does not improve it, and Shard of Alexander does not apply to a spell.
• The blades attack rather than block. Having them overhead does not protect you from an incoming hit or guarantee that an enemy will be interrupted.
• If the chosen teacher dies after the spell was unlocked, their bearing can preserve the unpurchased stock. The Twin Maiden Husks cannot receive a new scroll through that bearing.
