Cold sorceries

In-game description

Sorcery said to have been used by the old snow witch.

The glintstone serves as a conduit, launching a mass of cold magic.

This sorcery can be cast repeatedly and while in motion.

The snowy crone taught the young Ranni to fear the dark moon as she imparted her cold sorcery.

Where to find

Seluvis's Rise

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Ranni's Rise

Before you go

  • Have 7,500 runes.
  • Join Ranni's service and finish Seluvis's potion request to use his living shop, or offer his bell bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks if he has died.
  1. Reach the western Liurnia road and follow it north through Kingsrealm Ruins. Strike the illusory wall blocking the road at the northern end, then continue past Iji at Road to the Manor.
  2. Ride toward the large manor while avoiding the magical strikes falling along the approach. Activate Main Caria Manor Gate grace at the entrance.
  3. Inside, follow the courtyard path northwest toward the building in the far corner. Fingercreepers hide among the plants and beneath the ground; do not stop on a buried hand.
  4. Enter the building with the seated spirit and climb its stairs to Manor Lower Level grace.
  5. Take the elevated walkways east and continue straight along the main route at the first junction. Spectral soldiers appear along the bridges. Reach the far building and take its lift up to Manor Upper Level.
  6. Leave the upper grace, pass the wolves in the garden and climb the main stone stairway toward the Troll Knight and sorcerers.
  7. Continue up the stairs beyond the troll and Pages to the large circular courtyard. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta, then activate Royal Moongazing Grounds grace.
  8. Leave through the rear exit into Three Sisters. Ranni's Rise is the western tower; climb to Ranni and agree to serve her.
  9. Speak to the servant projections downstairs, including Seluvis, then return to finish Ranni's conversation. Go to Seluvis's Rise, the tower southwest of hers.
  10. Speak to Seluvis and take his potion request. If choosing the nonviolent disposal route, go to Gideon at Roundtable Hold and ask him to dispose of the potion.
  11. Return to Seluvis and report that the request is finished, then buy Glintstone Icecrag for 7,500 runes from his starting spell shop. Amber Starlight and his later scheme are unnecessary.
  12. If Seluvis is already dead, loot his bearing at the same tower and offer it to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. His sorcery stock is sold separately from his puppets.

Notes

  • Requires 15 Intelligence, one memory slot and a glintstone staff. It costs 12 FP each time you fire the spell, including repeated casts.
  • Fires a tracking Magic projectile with 100 Frostbite buildup. The damage and buildup are separate: Sorcery Scaling improves the Magic hit, while Intelligence and Arcane do not increase that fixed frost amount.
  • It has a shorter useful reach than the ordinary long-range glintstone projectiles. Use it at medium distance rather than expecting the ice mass to cross a whole boss arena.
  • You can cast repeatedly and while moving. Faster follow-up shots help finish the frost buildup before it starts falling between hits.
  • Snow Witch Hat improves the Magic damage by 10%. It does not improve Frostbite buildup, and the rest of the Snow Witch set adds no further cold-sorcery bonus.
  • Graven talismans and Magic damage bonuses improve the direct hit. It cannot be charged, so Godfrey Icon does not help; Shard of Alexander and Spellblade armor apply to suitable skills rather than this spell.
  • Once Frostbite triggers, further shots still deal Magic damage but cannot immediately trigger another frost burst while that debuff remains active. Fire damage clears the active frost debuff, allowing a new buildup cycle at the cost of ending its damage-negation penalty.
  • Seluvis sells it for 7,500 runes. If he has died, his bell bearing moves the sorcery purchase to the Twin Maiden Husks; buying his puppets is a separate matter.
