About this Ash of War

Costs 16 FP for the ground strike, golden burst and darts. The optional heavy-attack sweep costs another 5 FP, making the full sequence 21 FP.

The weapon plunge, push and sweep use its ordinary attack power. The golden burst and six darts deal independent Holy damage that improves through Faith and upgrades.

Sacred affinity strengthens the Holy effects' Faith scaling. Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality and Lightning keep a weaker Faith-scaled golden effect rather than removing it.

Where to find

Scarab south of the Erdtree Avatar

Deeproot Depths

Starting Site of Grace: Great Waterfall Crest

Before you go

  • Reach Deeproot Depths.
  1. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at the Radahn Festival in Redmane Castle. His defeat opens the starfall crater in Limgrave; it is not the sealed Siofra River overlook reached from the Four Belfries.
  2. Return to the Mistwood near Fort Haight and find the new crater marked by floating rocks. Use the descending ledges and openings to enter Nokron, Eternal City.
  3. Follow the rooftops down into Nokron's streets, then continue to the Mimic Tear boss. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond the arena.
  4. Leave the bridge on the left where it opens into woodland. Follow the western cliff to Ancestral Woods grace, overlooking the lower rooftops.
  5. From the upper woodland, go toward the trees beside Hallowhorn Grounds and the Spirit Jellyfish along the northern cliff. Use the lower ledge below the edge, then follow the descending path into the cave to Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs grace. You do not need to light the ancestor pillars.
  6. Leave the cave toward the aqueduct. Drop onto the stone support leading to the building, then onto the lower ledge. A Crucible Knight patrols nearby, so wait for an opening before moving across.
  7. Continue toward the building with water pouring out. Another Crucible Knight stands by the waterfall. Go north through the water channel, turn into the area on the right and climb the stairs through the arch. D's twin sits near this approach to the boss.
  8. Defeat both Valiant Gargoyles. Afterward, activate Great Waterfall Basin grace and rest in the coffin beside the waterfall to reach Deeproot Depths.
  9. From the grace, head southwest past the patrolling Erdtree Avatar. Look for the scarab near the group of giant ants.
  10. Kill the scarab for Golden Land. You can avoid the Avatar if you have room to reach the target safely.

Notes

  • Costs 16 FP for the ground strike, golden burst and darts. The optional heavy-attack sweep costs another 5 FP, making the full sequence 21 FP.
  • The weapon plunge, push and sweep use its ordinary attack power. The golden burst and six darts deal independent Holy damage that improves through Faith and upgrades.
  • Sacred affinity strengthens the Holy effects' Faith scaling. Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality and Lightning keep a weaker Faith-scaled golden effect rather than removing it.
  • The Holy burst gives 30 stance damage and each dart 1. The weapon contacts add class-dependent stance pressure when the enemy is close enough.
  • The first plunge and sweep apply full weapon status buildup, while the smaller push applies half. The Holy burst and darts do not carry the weapon's status or grease buildup.
  • The delayed darts keep pressure on the target after the opening explosion. They can miss, be blocked by scenery or arrive after the enemy has moved, so all six are not guaranteed.
  • Shard of Alexander improves the skill, and Holy bonuses strengthen the golden effects. Godfrey Icon does not because it cannot be charged.
  • A Physical weapon coating helps the actual weapon contacts, rather than being copied into each dart. The attack therefore has separate reasons to value weapon attack power and Faith.
  • The optional sweep can knock down a susceptible enemy but extends the recovery. Leave it out when the target is already outside weapon range.
  • Great Club has a built-in version, while the Deeproot scarab gives the transferable Ash. You can pass the nearby Erdtree Avatar if you only want the scarab.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Colossal Sword, Greataxe, Great Hammer, Great Spear, Colossal Weapon. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Sacred. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Lightning and Sacred; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
