In-game description

Stone armor with a tinge of green. One of a set of armor pieces cast in the image of the Gravebird.

Featuring a cape of black Deathbird feathers, it enhances jumping attacks.

Gravebirds are ancient golems, created to guard the spiritgraves built where all manners of Death ultimately drift.

Where to find

Gravebird altar north of Temple Town Ruins

Rauh Base

Starting Site of Grace: Temple Town Ruins

  1. To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  2. From Moorth Ruins grace in Scadu Altus, ride northeast to the small triangular pool. Look for the cave beside a statue of Marika and a Scadutree Fragment.
  3. Enter the cave and follow it past the perfumers to the glowing golden tree. Take the path to its right down into the swamp.
  4. Turn left through the route beneath the rock and continue until you emerge into Rauh Base. Activate Ancient Ruins Base grace ahead.
  5. Follow the valley southwest toward Temple Town Ruins. A bow golem and an axe golem guard the approach; fighting them is optional if you can pass their attacks.
  6. Collect the map beneath the stele near the ruined town. This is the lower valley, not the upper ruins reached through Shadow Keep.
  7. From Temple Town Ruins, follow the lower river north and northwest. Watch for Pests along the banks and Gravebirds that wake as you approach.
  8. Look on the river's left bank for the rising path lined with Gravebird statues. Go up to the large stone sarcophagus at its end and clear the living birds guarding it.
  9. Loot the corpse at the base of the sarcophagus for Blackquill Armor. This is the separate winged chest, not a tailoring change to regular Gravebird Armor. Rugalea and the nearby catacomb bosses are unnecessary.

Notes

  • Weighs 7.4 and provides 16 poise.
  • Increases eligible jumping weapon-attack damage by 10% in PvE and 5% against other players. Both light and heavy jumping weapon attacks can benefit.
  • Can combine with Claw Talisman, giving 26.5% more qualifying damage in PvE or about 12.9% in PvP. This does not make every skill that leaves the ground count as a jumping weapon attack.
  • It does not improve jump height, reduce fall damage or automatically increase status buildup or stance damage.
  • This winged chest is heavier than regular Gravebird Armor at 7.4 weight versus 6, and provides 16 poise versus 13. Regular Gravebird Armor has no jumping-attack bonus.
  • The pieces are fixed pickups scattered across different regions, rather than one shared outfit reward or random drops from Gravebirds.
  • It cannot be altered. Regular Gravebird Armor and Blackquill Armor are separate corpse pickups, even though the winged chest resembles a caped variant.
  • Matching the outfit adds no separate bonus. Gravebird Helm's 15% Rings of Spectral Light bonus belongs to that helmet alone.
