Creates a defensive arch of larger magic glintblades overhead, which automatically attack nearby foes.

Used by the enchanted troll knights.

They were the comrades of the young Rennala, bound by oath.

Starting Site of Grace: Foot of the Four Belfries

1. Follow the western Liurnia road north from Revenger's Shack toward the Four Belfries, or start at Foot of the Four Belfries and ride south along the same plateau.
2. From Foot of the Four Belfries, pass the rock formations occupied by bats and a singing harpy. Continue south to the large circular stone Evergaol on the open ground above the lake.
3. Interact with the glowing centre to enter Cuckoo's Evergaol and fight Bols, Carian Knight. This arena does not require a Stonesword Key.
4. Defeat Bols to receive Greatblade Phalanx automatically. Spirit Ashes and ordinary cooperative summons cannot be used for this Evergaol fight.

Notes

• Creates three large floating Magic blades for 30 FP. Requires 29 Intelligence and one memory slot. It can also be cast while riding Torrent.
• Each blade has Magic attack power equal to 100% of Sorcery Scaling. All three total 300% before defenses, with the damage of each hit resolved separately.
• Each blade deals about 10.2 stance damage against ordinary enemies, or about 30.5 if all three connect. This makes its three larger blades useful for stance pressure compared with the smaller phalanxes.
• The total attack-power multiplier matches Glintblade Phalanx, but it is split into fewer, stronger hits. Enemy defenses can therefore change the damage comparison.
• Defeat Bols, Carian Knight in Cuckoo's Evergaol for the guaranteed spell reward. This is separate from Royal Knight Loretta at Caria Manor.
• The floating blades follow you and launch when an enemy is in front of you and close enough. Face away to delay their launch while preparing your next move.
• This is a staff-cast sorcery, separate from the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War. It does not add a follow-up thrust to your weapon.
• Another phalanx replaces the active arch, including the other phalanx sorceries and the weapon skills Glintblade Phalanx and Tremendous Phalanx. Recasting does not let you stack several arches.
• Blades can collide with walls and doorframes before reaching an enemy. Prepare them after passing through a narrow doorway or boss mist if the scenery would destroy them.
• Carian Glintblade Staff gives this spell a 15% damage bonus while held in an active hand. Carian Glintstone Staff's different sword-sorcery bonus does not apply.
• Damage uses the casting staff's Sorcery Scaling. Intelligence supplies that scaling on an ordinary Intelligence staff; hybrid staffs use their own supported attributes.
• It cannot be charged. Godfrey Icon does not improve it, and Shard of Alexander does not apply to a spell.
• The blades attack rather than block. Having them overhead does not protect you from an incoming hit or guarantee that an enemy will be interrupted.
