In-game description

Great arrow that bristles with sharp gravel stone pieces.

Has an anti-dragon effect.

The broken drake warrior Igon made these one by one in the midst of his agony—so that Bayle the Dread himself would know fear.

Where to find

Igon's Bell Bearing shop

Jagged Peak and Roundtable Hold

Starting Site of Grace: Foot of the Jagged Peak

Before you go

  • Complete Igon's quest through Bayle for this route.
  1. From Castle Front, follow the southeast road toward Pillar Path Waypoint. Take the lower branch toward Igon, speak to him beside the road and leave him alive.
  2. Continue south-southwest past the broken dragon statues. An Ancient Dragon-Man invades along this approach. The cave entrance is on the left near the end of the path, marked by a fire.
  3. Activate Dragon's Pit grace and follow the lit passage down. Watch for skeletons below the first ledge and around the next corner. Strike their glowing remains after knocking them down to stop them getting back up.
  4. In the large cavern with the pillars, follow the left-hand ledge down and take the passage beside the distant crossbow skeleton. Continue onto the sloping stairs in the next chamber.
  5. Take the downward route toward the large altar and pit. The stairs going up lead to an optional Magma Wyrm; that fight is not needed to reach the exit.
  6. At the bottom, approach the message beside the deep chasm. Walk straight off this lowest ledge into the pit to land safely by the boss mist. Do not jump from the higher rooms or aim toward the side walls.
  7. Defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man behind the mist. Open the large doors at the back of the arena instead of using the return-to-entrance exit, then follow the tunnel to Dragon's Pit Terminus grace.
  8. From Dragon's Pit Terminus, descend to the first drake's lake bed. Use the northeastern archway and follow the path uphill as it bends southeast. The drake fight is optional.
  9. Continue along the narrow cliff path until you reach a spiritspring on the east side. This is the first spiritspring on the ascent, before the bridge to Foot of the Jagged Peak.
  10. Use the spiritspring to jump east, then cross the bridge south-southeast and activate Foot of the Jagged Peak grace.
  11. From Foot of the Jagged Peak, follow the southern path uphill to the two fighting drakes. Defeat the one with the boss health bar, then speak to Igon just beyond the battlefield until he gives you his Furled Finger.
  12. Take the eastern canyon, climb using the next two spiritsprings and follow the valley uphill. Two boulders roll down the slope ahead; use the rocks on the right for cover before continuing.
  13. At the top of the boulder slope, turn east-northeast toward Ancient Dragon Senessax. You can ride past the dragon and take the northern uphill exit instead of fighting.
  14. Climb past the dead dragons to Jagged Peak Mountainside grace. Lightning strikes along the upper mountain, so move away from the marks that appear on the ground.
  15. From Mountainside grace, climb southwest and use the spiritspring. Follow the narrow upper path southwest, jumping the gaps and avoiding the lightning marks.
  16. Use the next spiritspring to reach the upper cave. Follow the rising passage and use the final spiritspring to reach Jagged Peak Summit grace.
  17. Enter Bayle's arena southeast of the summit. His gold summon sign is inside, near the entrance. Summon Igon during the attempt in which you defeat Bayle if you want the special Ash on his reward bow. He does not need to survive the fight.
  18. Return to Foot of the Jagged Peak and climb back toward the two-drake battlefield. Loot Igon where he gave you his finger for his greatbow, regular armor and bell bearing. The special Ash is attached to the bow when you completed the required summon.
  19. Offer Igon's Bell Bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. Open his bell-bearing shop and buy Igon's Harpoons for 1,000 runes each.

Igon beside Pillar Path Waypoint

Gravesite Plain

Starting Site of Grace: Pillar Path Waypoint

  1. From Castle Front, follow the road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint and take the lower fork toward the wounded man calling beside the road.
  2. Killing Igon here drops his regular outfit, greatbow and bell bearing. This ends his quest and prevents receiving his Furled Finger and the quest version of his bow with its special Ash of War.
  3. Use the quest route if you want his full rewards and the option to summon him against Bayle.
  4. Offer his bell bearing at Roundtable Hold to buy the harpoons. This early route loses the quest Ash of War; the shop ammunition itself is still available.

Notes

  • Greatbow ammunition with 90 Physical attack power. It has no innate status buildup and cannot be fired from ordinary bows, crossbows or ballista weapons.
  • Deals 30% extra damage to ordinary dragons and 15% extra damage to ancient dragons. The bonus depends on the target's dragon type, rather than applying to every large enemy.
  • An active Igon's Greatbow boosts these harpoons by another 20%. Another greatbow can fire them normally, and can benefit from Igon's bow held actively in the other hand.
  • The bell-bearing shop has unlimited stock at 1,000 runes each. You can carry 30, making a full carried stack cost 30,000 runes.
  • The ammunition is purchased, not crafted. Dragon Communion Harpoon is a different thrown item and does not fit a bow.
  • Killing Igon early also gives the bearing, but ends his quest and loses the special quest Ash. Keeping him alive preserves his help against Bayle and the fuller reward route.
  • Igon's personal bell-bearing shop does not stay unlocked in a later journey. Buy the harpoons you want before starting one, or obtain his bearing again.
