Fires a semi-invisible magic comet.
This sorcery can be cast repeatedly and while in motion. Charging enhances potency.
The Sellian sorcerers were assassins, and it is said that they often hunted their fellows.
Where to find
Sealed room in Sellia, Town of Sorcery
Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: Sellia Under-Stair
- From Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank, follow the road north through Sellia Gateway. Watch for the giant throwing rocks above the gateway. Gowry's wooden shack is off the road on the right, before the town.
- Continue north into Sellia, Town of Sorcery. Activate Sellia Under-Stair on the southwestern edge and follow the main street north, watching for sorcerers appearing beside the buildings.
- Climb the stairs at the far end toward the golden sapling and the sealed upper gate. The large roots beside these steps provide the way onto the roofs.
- Near the sapling, look southwest through the broken railing for a root leading toward the nearest candle tower. Follow it, climb the tower ladder and interact with the flame at the top.
- Return to the upper steps and use the root again, this time stepping onto the adjoining roofs. Work south and east across the roofs and branches toward the eastern tower. Use Torrent's double jump for the gaps and climb the ladder to light its flame.
- From that eastern roof route, head back across the connecting roots and roofs toward the southern tower on the western side. The narrow approach has a corpse with a Stonesword Key. Climb the ladder and light the third flame.
- All three flames remove the town's different blue barriers. Return to ground level to collect the particular reward you came for; lighting the towers does not automatically put the chest items in your inventory.
- Return to the central main street and open the chest in the formerly sealed alcove for Night Comet. The boss fog on the northwestern side leads to different rewards.
Notes
- Requires 38 Intelligence, one memory slot and a staff, and costs 21 FP. Fires a semi-invisible projectile that deals Magic damage.
- Many enemies do not perform their usual reactive spell dodge against it. A target can still move out of its path or already be dodging, so this does not guarantee every shot lands.
- Can be cast repeatedly and while moving. Charge it for a stronger shot when the opening is long enough; Godfrey Icon boosts the charged version.
- Staff of Loss raises its damage by 30% while active in either hand. Cast with that staff or hold it beside a different casting staff. Two active copies multiply the school bonus to 69%.
- The damage uses the staff actually doing the casting and its Sorcery Scaling, with the separate school bonus applied afterward. Holding a powerful staff in the other hand does not replace the casting staff's scaling.
- The night effect does not make your character invisible, inflict Death Blight or give the projectile Physical damage. It is different from Night Maiden's Mist and Unseen Form.
- It is a chest pickup behind a town seal. Gowry's quest, the Nox duo and the boss in Sellia Crystal Tunnel are not required to collect this spell.
