About this item
Spends 24 FP each time you use it. The bairn is reusable, has no attribute requirement and needs neither a casting weapon nor a memory slot.
Deals holy damage, with scaling from Intelligence and Faith. Faith has the stronger scaling, even though the two attributes can show the same letter grade. Strength, Dexterity and Arcane do not improve its damage.
There is a brief preparation before a close burst and seven pursuing wraiths. The initial burst can knock smaller enemies away, but you can still be interrupted before releasing it. Start with some space rather than using it as an instant escape.

In-game description
Doll of a curseborn bairn.
Uses FP to unleash wraiths that chase down foes.
Omen babies have all their horns excised, causing most to perish. These fetishes are made to memorialize them.
"Please, don't hate me, or curse me. Please."
Where to find
Cleaver Omen beneath the wooden shortcut
Subterranean Shunning-Grounds
Starting Site of Grace: Underground Roadside
- From Underground Roadside, follow the main Omen hall to the open floor grate and drop into the rat tunnel.
- Take the side pipe into the slug-filled drains. Follow the pipes, jumping the holes, until you reach the room with an Omen and a ladder.
- Climb the ladder, deal with the two Omen above and pull the lever to open the shortcut back to Underground Roadside.
- Take the nearby doorway into the broken spiral-stair shaft. Drop onto the lower curved stairs on the left, then follow the stairs and passage into the Basilisk tunnels.
- Pass the junction leading down toward the Miranda flower and Nomad Ashes. In the main tunnel, ignore the first right turn ending at a locked door and take the next right.
- Defeat the cleaver-wielding Omen in the large room to receive Omen Bairn. Climb the ladder behind it and open the wooden double doors for another shortcut.
Notes
- Spends 24 FP each time you use it. The bairn is reusable, has no attribute requirement and needs neither a casting weapon nor a memory slot.
- Deals holy damage, with scaling from Intelligence and Faith. Faith has the stronger scaling, even though the two attributes can show the same letter grade. Strength, Dexterity and Arcane do not improve its damage.
- There is a brief preparation before a close burst and seven pursuing wraiths. The initial burst can knock smaller enemies away, but you can still be interrupted before releasing it. Start with some space rather than using it as an instant escape.
- The wraiths leave in several groups and travel toward your locked target. Keep the target in view and allow time for the later groups to arrive. Walls, evasive movement and holy resistance can waste much of the FP you spent.
- Each worn piece of the Omen Set gives a 5% damage bonus to this tool. This is a specific armor bonus; the Shard of Alexander and sorcery or incantation talismans do not turn it into a stronger weapon skill or spell.
- A staff or seal in your other hand does not lend its casting scaling to the bairn. Improvements come from the tool's own attributes and relevant damage bonuses.
- The sewer Omen guarding the ladder to the wooden shortcut drops this as a fixed reward. Other Omen do not have a random chance to drop it. Regal Omen Bairn is a separate remembrance reward with a much higher FP cost.
