About this Ash of War
Costs 14 FP. Hold the skill input to charge, then release a close-range palm blast. Charging increases its damage, reach around the impact and ability to knock back susceptible enemies.
The uncharged blast uses 220% of the weapon's attack power, while the fully charged blast uses 460%. These are attack-power multipliers before enemy defenses, rather than a promise that the damage number will exactly double.
Damage follows the equipped weapon and affinity. Heavy benefits from Strength, Keen from Dexterity, and elemental affinities add their own relevant scaling. It does not use a staff or seal's casting strength.

In-game description
This Ash of War grants no affinity to an armament, but imparts the following skill:
"Palm Blast: Skill of the spiritual seekers known as the Dryleaf Sect. Imbues hand with energy before using a palm strike to unleash an explosive blast. The already formidable power and impact can be bolstered by charging the attack."
Usable on hand-to-hand weapons.
Where to find
Dryleaf Dane's duel at Moorth Ruins
Scadu Altus
Starting Site of Grace: Moorth Ruins
Before you go
- Obtain May the Best Win and complete the Moorth Ruins duel before entering the later battle against Leda's allies.
- Reach Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, just beyond Castle Ensis's northern exit after Rellana. Collect Monk's Missive and the May the Best Win gesture beside the cross.
- From Highroad Cross, follow the road north to its junction, then take the east-southeast road to Moorth Ruins. Dane stands beside its grace and cross. Talking alone does not begin the duel.
- Stand in front of Dane and perform May the Best Win. Let the gesture finish to enter the duel, then defeat him. You can retry if you lose.
- Back in your world, collect Dryleaf Arts and Dane's Hat beside his position. Entering the later battle against Leda's allies makes this earlier duel unavailable, so finish it before advancing that encounter.
- Palm Blast comes attached to Dryleaf Arts. Use the Ashes of War menu at a grace to remove or transfer it to another compatible hand-to-hand weapon.
Notes
- Costs 14 FP. Hold the skill input to charge, then release a close-range palm blast. Charging increases its damage, reach around the impact and ability to knock back susceptible enemies.
- The uncharged blast uses 220% of the weapon's attack power, while the fully charged blast uses 460%. These are attack-power multipliers before enemy defenses, rather than a promise that the damage number will exactly double.
- Damage follows the equipped weapon and affinity. Heavy benefits from Strength, Keen from Dexterity, and elemental affinities add their own relevant scaling. It does not use a staff or seal's casting strength.
- The blast carries the weapon's status effects at 90% of their listed buildup. Charging increases damage, but does not multiply that buildup from 90% to 460%.
- Deals 20 stance damage uncharged or 36 fully charged to PvE enemies before applicable modifiers. The larger blast can help break stance, but a single use does not guarantee a break.
- Charging grants resistance to interruption, not invulnerability. You can still take damage, be grabbed or die while preparing it. Release early when a full charge would leave you exposed.
- Shard of Alexander improves skill damage, and Godfrey Icon improves the fully charged version. Axe Talisman is for charged weapon heavy attacks and does not strengthen this skill just because it can be charged.
- Only compatible Hand-to-Hand weapons can use it. Ordinary fists, claws and completely empty hands are different categories.
- Its default affinity is Standard. With the appropriate whetblades, it supports Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult.
