About this Ash of War

Costs 8 FP and 15 stamina for one throw. It uses the equipped Throwing Blade and does not consume throwing knives from the inventory.

Deals 175% of the weapon's attack power before bonuses and defenses, with full weapon status buildup. Its damage therefore follows the weapon's affinity and scaling, rather than an independent casting attribute.

The throw deals Pierce Physical damage, so Spear Talisman can improve its Physical counterhit against an attacking enemy.

Where to find

Explosive scarab east of the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Moorth Ruins

  1. From Moorth Ruins, follow the southeastern road toward the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past.
  2. Stay outside and search the pillars east of its entrance. A group of Misbegotten guards the scarab.
  3. Draw the enemies away or approach with a ranged attack, then kill the scarab.
  4. Back away when it begins to explode. The reward is from the scarab outside, rather than from clearing the interior.

Notes

  • Costs 8 FP and 15 stamina for one throw. It uses the equipped Throwing Blade and does not consume throwing knives from the inventory.
  • Deals 175% of the weapon's attack power before bonuses and defenses, with full weapon status buildup. Its damage therefore follows the weapon's affinity and scaling, rather than an independent casting attribute.
  • The throw deals Pierce Physical damage, so Spear Talisman can improve its Physical counterhit against an attacking enemy.
  • It passes through enemies and flies farther than an ordinary throwing heavy. Passing through bodies does not mean it ignores a shield held toward the projectile.
  • Deals 3 stance damage on a Throwing Blade. It trades FP for speed, reach and stronger individual damage, rather than automatically beating a charged heavy for stance pressure.
  • Smithing Talisman improves the throwing attack, and Shard of Alexander improves the skill. Godfrey Icon does not because it cannot be charged.
  • Its skill hits can build consecutive-hit effects. Do not assume every ordinary Smithscript projectile shares that eligibility.
  • Without enough FP, the weaker throw loses the normal piercing property. Keep enough FP if you need it to pass through the front enemy.
  • Smithscript Dagger starts with this skill, but the separate Ash lets you apply it with another supported affinity. Ordinary Daggers are outside its weapon class.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Throwing Blade. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Keen. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
