About this Ash of War
Costs 20 FP for an overhead weapon slam. A successful hit restores 30% of your maximum HP and heals nearby allies for 14% of their own maximum HP. An empty swing gives no healing.
Each enemy struck can trigger the recovery, so catching several enemies can provide more healing than hitting one. Allies need to be close when the hit lands; it does not heal someone across the arena.
The healing depends on maximum HP, not Faith, weapon upgrade level or the amount of damage dealt. Shard of Alexander can strengthen the attack without making those healing percentages larger.

In-game description
This Ash of War grants an armament the Sacred affinity and the following skill:
"Prayerful Strike: Raise armament aloft in prayer, then slam it into the ground. This inspired blow restores HP to the self and nearby allies if it successfully hits."
Usable on axes and hammers.
Where to find
Invisible scarab in the water north of Sealed Tunnel
Capital Outskirts
Starting Site of Grace: Outer Wall Phantom Tree
- From Outer Wall Phantom Tree, head east toward the depressed lakebed. Find the sloping stone slabs and work down them into the shallow water instead of jumping straight from the high cliff. Sealed Tunnel is along the southeastern edge of this lakebed.
- Look for glowing tracks circling through the water under the short rocky arch, north of the Sealed Tunnel entrance. These belong to an invisible scarab.
- Stand on its route and strike as it approaches. A wide attack helps if the trail is difficult to judge.
- Kill it for Prayerful Strike. The tunnel's false walls and Onyx Lord boss are unrelated.
Notes
- Costs 20 FP for an overhead weapon slam. A successful hit restores 30% of your maximum HP and heals nearby allies for 14% of their own maximum HP. An empty swing gives no healing.
- Each enemy struck can trigger the recovery, so catching several enemies can provide more healing than hitting one. Allies need to be close when the hit lands; it does not heal someone across the arena.
- The healing depends on maximum HP, not Faith, weapon upgrade level or the amount of damage dealt. Shard of Alexander can strengthen the attack without making those healing percentages larger.
- This is an actual weapon hit using the weapon's damage, rather than a separate pure-holy projectile. A physical weapon can deal physical damage with it, and the hit can apply the weapon's own status buildup.
- The preparation resists interruption, but you still take damage. At very low health, a boss can kill you before the healing hit connects. Use a recovery opening rather than relying on the heal to arrive first.
- There is no extra Faith requirement to use the skill. Sacred is its default affinity, but you can choose an allowed physical affinity to fit your build. The weapon must support this Ash and you must meet its requirements.
- It cannot be charged. Godfrey Icon and Axe Talisman do not improve it just because the motion resembles a heavy attack.
- Compatible weapon classes: Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Great Hammer, Flail, Colossal Weapon. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Sacred. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Lightning and Sacred; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
