About this Ash of War
The opening slam costs 7 FP. Holding the input continues the forward charge and spends another 7 FP roughly every second, as well as draining stamina.
Release the input to finish with an upward strike. Leave enough stamina for that finish and a defensive action afterward instead of holding until both bars are empty.
Weapon contacts use the weapon's attack power. The separate flame effects deal Fire damage and improve through Faith and reinforcement, so the selected affinity and your attributes affect the two parts differently.

Where to find
Hanging scarab south of Guardians' Garrison
Mountaintops of the Giants
Starting Site of Grace: Whiteridge Road
- Reach Whiteridge Road on the southern route through the Mountaintops. Follow the road toward Guardians' Garrison.
- Search the large thorned stakes on the cliff south of the garrison, near the chain bridge toward Giants' Gravepost.
- Look up for the hanging scarab. Use a bow or spell to bring it down and finish it for Prelate's Charge.
- The garrison boss and Fire Giant are not required. The Prelate's Inferno Crozier is a separate weapon pickup in Mt. Gelmir.
Notes
- The opening slam costs 7 FP. Holding the input continues the forward charge and spends another 7 FP roughly every second, as well as draining stamina.
- Release the input to finish with an upward strike. Leave enough stamina for that finish and a defensive action afterward instead of holding until both bars are empty.
- Weapon contacts use the weapon's attack power. The separate flame effects deal Fire damage and improve through Faith and reinforcement, so the selected affinity and your attributes affect the two parts differently.
- The opening and finishing weapon hits apply the weapon's normal status amount. Each small dragging contact applies only 5% of that amount, and the ground fire does not carry the weapon's innate bleed.
- Bloodflame Blade can work especially well on a compatible Physical-affinity weapon because its fixed bloodflame effect is separate from those reduced innate-status contacts. Fire or Flame Art affinity does not permit that spell coating.
- Great Stars can recover health through its connecting weapon contacts, and repeated hits can build consecutive-hit effects. The flame trail is not a guarantee that every separate healing or status effect activates on every visual patch.
- Shard of Alexander improves the skill, and Fire bonuses help its flame damage. Godfrey Icon does not improve a held charge loop.
- Smaller enemies can be pushed in front of the weapon, while a large enemy may stay in place and hit back. Watch for walls, ledges and another enemy group along the route you are charging into.
- The hanging scarab south of Guardians' Garrison gives the transferable Ash. The Prelate's Inferno Crozier in Mt. Gelmir is a separate weapon with this skill already fitted.
- Compatible weapon classes: Greataxe, Great Hammer, Colossal Weapon. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Flame Art. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire and Flame Art; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
