In-game description
Longbow which utilizes a series of pulleys and springs. The complex mechanism, which required advanced mathematical and mechanical understanding to craft, was likely made by a certain genius who learned Golden Order fundamentalism.
Enhances precision while shooting, enabling arrows to fly much further distances.
Skill
Archery skill performed from an oblique stance. Ready the bow, then pull the bowstring to its limit to enhance the power of the shot, penetrating the enemy's guard.Ash of War: Mighty Shot
Where to find
Mt. Gelmir
Starting Site of Grace: First Mt. Gelmir Campsite
- Reach Altus Plateau with both Dectus Medallion halves, from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth, or by climbing Ruin-Strewn Precipice and defeating Magma Wyrm Makar.
- Follow the road north from Altus Highway Junction, past the map monument, to Forest-Spanning Greatbridge grace. Use the waygate beside the grace to cross to the northern end of the broken bridge.
- Follow the northern Altus road west and cross the wooden bridge to Bridge of Iniquity.
- Continue northwest along the lower road. Near the two Abductor Virgins, hug the left cliff and find the ladder between two torches. Climb and turn left to First Mt. Gelmir Campsite.
- From First Mt. Gelmir Campsite, head west into the battlefield and look for the tall wooden siege tower.
- Climb its ladders to the highest platform, taking care around the soldiers on the way up. Loot the seated corpse at the top for the bow.
- The pickup is the corpse on the highest platform, not a chest in Volcano Manor. The Fallingstar Beast farther up the mountain is optional.
Notes
- Strength and Dexterity have equal physical scaling coefficients. The mechanism does not create Intelligence or Faith scaling despite the inventor described in its lore.
- Its pulley mechanism extends effective arrow range compared with an ordinary Longbow. This delays distance-related damage loss; it does not eliminate it or guarantee a hit on a moving target.
- Uses ordinary arrows, not the three-bolt bursts of Pulley Crossbow. The two pulley weapons have different ammunition, firing patterns and upgrade needs.
- Mighty Shot is fixed. You cannot trade the extra reach for a different Ash such as Barrage on this weapon.
- Mighty Shot costs 6 FP and fires a stronger arrow with increased status buildup. Make room for the slower draw; it is a deliberate shot rather than a rapid Barrage.
- Mighty Shot is fixed and cannot be replaced with another Ash of War.
- Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones to +10.
- Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied. Choose the ammunition for added elemental damage or status buildup; this bow has no Arcane scaling to increase the arrows' status buildup.
- Uses arrows, rather than bolts or greatarrows. Equip up to two arrow types in the ammunition slots and use the corresponding firing input to choose between them.
- Requires 11 Strength and 11 Dexterity. Weighs 5. Ordinary shots spend stamina and ammunition; the skill also needs its listed FP.
