About this Ash of War
Holding the low stance is free. Firing spends 20 FP and only one arrow or greatarrow, then produces a falling volley. You do not pay one piece of ammunition for every falling projectile.
Lock onto the enemy before releasing to place the rain over it. Without a target lock, the rain falls over your own position rather than the distant point you may have been trying to aim at.
The volley is especially useful against a broad enemy that stays beneath it. A small or moving enemy may escape much of the rain, so the visible number of arrows is not a guaranteed hit count.

In-game description

"Rain of Arrows: Archery skill performed from a low stance. Ready the bow, then fire a burst of arrows into the sky to shower the enemy with projectiles."
Usable on all bows.
Where to find
Redmane painting reward below the Minor Erdtree
Dragonbarrow
Starting Site of Grace: Dragonbarrow Fork
Before you go
- Inspect the Redmane painting in Sellia.
- In Sellia, inspect the Redmane painting in the ruined alcove beside the main street. The reward will not appear until you have interacted with the painting.
- Reach Dragonbarrow's Minor Erdtree east of Dragonbarrow Fork. Go to the cliff south of the tree and look down for large roots and branches protruding from the rock.
- Descend onto the upper branch, then use the lower branches and ruined stone platforms one landing at a time. Do not jump directly to the distant lower plateau.
- On the lower platform, keep away from the resting golem and approach the middle ledge overlooking the valley. Find the painter's seated apparition.
- Wait for the painter to disappear, then collect Rain of Arrows. Defeating the golem is not required.
Notes
- Holding the low stance is free. Firing spends 20 FP and only one arrow or greatarrow, then produces a falling volley. You do not pay one piece of ammunition for every falling projectile.
- Lock onto the enemy before releasing to place the rain over it. Without a target lock, the rain falls over your own position rather than the distant point you may have been trying to aim at.
- The volley is especially useful against a broad enemy that stays beneath it. A small or moving enemy may escape much of the rain, so the visible number of arrows is not a guaranteed hit count.
- Each ordinary falling arrow applies 65% of its normal status buildup. Several contacts can still apply an ailment efficiently, but plain arrows do not gain one and status-immune enemies remain immune.
- It works on compatible light bows, longbows and greatbows, using the ammunition size that the equipped bow requires. Greatarrows have their own damage behavior rather than being ordinary arrows with the same multiplier.
- The delayed rain is different from a direct shot. Overhead geometry can change where the volley forms and how tightly it falls; do not assume it will behave identically in every enclosed room.
- Lion Greatbow's Radahn's Rain is a separate fixed skill. Its appearance does not mean obtaining that bow gives this transferable Ash.
- Examine the Redmane Painting in Sellia before descending to its painter. The resting golem on the lower plateau is optional; the reward appears when the painter vanishes.
- Damage uses the equipped bow and selected ammunition, including the bow's reinforcement and actual attribute scaling. The skill does not supply free arrows or give every bow new Intelligence, Faith or Arcane scaling.
- Shard of Alexander improves the damaging skill shots, while holding the ready stance does not qualify for Godfrey Icon. An arrow-damage bonus increases damage rather than directly increasing ailment buildup.
- This Ash uses the Standard affinity. Its equipment type does not receive the usual melee affinity choices.
- Compatible weapon classes: Light Bow, Bow, Greatbow. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
