Before you go

To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.

From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, ride east along the road to Moorth Ruins, then follow the southbound highway to Moorth Highway, South. Stay on this upper plateau rather than dropping toward Bonny Village.
From Moorth Highway, South, follow the road north toward the Ghostflame Dragon fighting Messmer's forces.
Search the corpse beside the road at the southern edge of the battlefield, before the dragon's main position. Loot it for the crossbow. You can collect it without defeating the dragon, but stay clear of the ongoing fight.

Repeating Fire readies a stance at no FP cost. Use the light or heavy attack input from that stance to fire a 12-bolt sequence for 26 FP: one opening shot, then 11 faster shots. The two inputs choose between your equipped bolt supplies.
The crossbow has no attribute damage scaling. Its 13 Strength and 15 Dexterity are requirements; raising those stats farther does not directly increase its damage.
It uses ordinary crossbow bolts. Ammunition with its own elemental or status property changes what a bolt can do, but does not add a scaling stat to the crossbow.
You cannot replace Repeating Fire with another Ash of War or change the affinity. Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones, up to +10.
Each skill bolt has reduced Physical damage and applies 55% of the bolt's usual ailment buildup. Twelve hits can still build an ailment quickly, but misses spend ammunition without adding buildup.
The stance slows walking and greatly slows stamina recovery. A full sequence also costs substantial stamina, so avoid starting it with enemies already in melee range.
Ordinary firing still gives a single shot without the skill's rapid volley. Shard of Alexander improves Repeating Fire rather than every normal bolt fired by the crossbow.
Weighs six. The corpse is a fixed pickup at the edge of the Ghostflame Dragon battle; killing the dragon is unnecessary.
