In-game description

Sorcery practiced by the keepers of the spiritgraves, where all death ultimately drifts.

Creates rings of spectral light that fire in unison.

Charging enhances potency.

The rings of light have the same qualities as ghostflame, and deal magic damage while also causing frost buildup.

Where to find

Gravebird altar above the upper river and lake approach

Charo's Hidden Grave

Starting Site of Grace: Charo's Hidden Grave

Before you go

  • To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  1. From Castle Front, follow the road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint. At the fork, use the lower road toward Igon rather than climbing to the Suppressing Pillar.
  2. Continue south-southwest past the broken dragon statues. An Ancient Dragon-Man invades along this approach. The cave entrance is on the left near the end of the path, marked by a fire.
  3. Activate Dragon's Pit grace and follow the lit passage down. Watch for skeletons below the first ledge and around the next corner. Strike their glowing remains after knocking them down to stop them getting back up.
  4. In the large cavern with the pillars, follow the left-hand ledge down and take the passage beside the distant crossbow skeleton. Continue onto the sloping stairs in the next chamber.
  5. Take the downward route toward the large altar and pit. The stairs going up lead to an optional Magma Wyrm; that fight is not needed to reach the exit.
  6. At the bottom, approach the message beside the deep chasm. Walk straight off this lowest ledge into the pit to land safely by the boss mist. Do not jump from the higher rooms or aim toward the side walls.
  7. Defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man behind the mist. Open the large doors at the back of the arena instead of using the return-to-entrance exit, then follow the tunnel to Dragon's Pit Terminus grace.
  8. Leave Dragon's Pit Terminus and descend to the lake bed with a Jagged Peak Drake. You can ride past the drake; follow the southern canyon toward the enormous dead dragon.
  9. Pass the dragon statues and emerge beside the ruined structure north of Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. The huge stone bowl and dead dragon identify the altar.
  10. At the altar, head west over the dead dragon and continue west-southwest toward the red flowers. This leads into the upper hidden grave, not the blue-flowered coast below.
  11. The entrance meets the lowest section of a shallow river. The river climbs northwest through several pools separated by small waterfalls.
  12. Follow the river northwest to its upper pools. At the upper end, take the red-flowered western-bank path northwest to Charo's Hidden Grave grace.
  13. Return east to the upper river and climb the eastern bank into the small graveyard above its northern end. Skeletons guard the slope and graves.
  14. Continue southwest from this graveyard toward the stone platform and large Gravebird statue above the lake approach. Several Gravebirds stand around the altar.
  15. Draw the birds away one at a time before approaching the centre. Stepping up to the altar can wake the remaining birds. Loot the sorcery there; the Death Rite Bird below is not its reward.

Notes

  • Fires six tracking rings after a short delay. They deal Magic damage and build Frostbite; their pale flame does not make them Fire attacks.
  • Requires 24 Intelligence, 18 Faith and one memory slot. Cast it with a staff for 14 FP, including when fully charged.
  • Damage follows the Sorcery Scaling of the staff used to cast. Intelligence is the damage stat on an ordinary Intelligence staff; Faith also contributes only if that particular staff has Faith-based Sorcery Scaling.
  • Hold the cast input to charge. Each ring has 53% of Sorcery Scaling as attack power normally, rising to 63% when charged. These are attack-power values before the target's defenses, not guaranteed HP damage.
  • Each ring applies 19 Frostbite buildup normally or 23 when charged. If all six connect, that is 114 or 138 buildup before any target-specific restrictions. Missing rings reduce both damage and buildup.
  • Gravebird Helm increases the spell's damage by 15%. Prince of Death's Staff does not give this spell its Death Sorcery bonus, even though the spell belongs to that theme.
  • Godfrey Icon strengthens a fully charged cast. Magic-damage bonuses can help its damage, but they do not increase the listed Frostbite buildup.
  • Leave a clear path for the rings and aim at an enemy that will stay in reach. A wall can stop the projectiles, and an enemy immune to Frostbite will not become susceptible after repeated casts.
