Starting Site of Grace: Royal Moongazing Grounds

Before you go

  • Defeat Royal Knight Loretta in Caria Manor.
  • Bring 3,500 runes.
  1. Reach the western Liurnia road and follow it north through Kingsrealm Ruins. Strike the illusory wall blocking the road at the northern end, then continue past Iji at Road to the Manor.
  2. Ride toward the large manor while avoiding the magical strikes falling along the approach. Activate Main Caria Manor Gate grace at the entrance.
  3. Inside, follow the courtyard path northwest toward the building in the far corner. Fingercreepers hide among the plants and beneath the ground; do not stop on a buried hand.
  4. Enter the building with the seated spirit and climb its stairs to Manor Lower Level grace.
  5. Take the elevated walkways east and continue straight along the main route at the first junction. Spectral soldiers appear along the bridges. Reach the far building and take its lift up to Manor Upper Level.
  6. Leave the upper grace, pass the wolves in the garden and climb the main stone stairway toward the Troll Knight and sorcerers.
  7. Continue up the stairs beyond the troll and Pages to the large circular courtyard. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta, then activate Royal Moongazing Grounds grace.
  8. Leave Loretta's arena through the gate into Three Sisters. Turn left and follow the manor's outside wall south and southwest to the cliff overlooking its roofs.
  9. Drop onto the square stone roof below. From its southwestern edge, drop onto the wooden platform, then use the next wooden platform and stone ledge to reach the lower roof.
  10. Find the open roof hatch and climb down its ladder. Pidia is on the upper balcony above the Manor Lower Level grace.
  11. Speak to him twice to open his shop and buy the Ripple Blade for 3,500 runes. If he has died through quest progress, collect his bell bearing here and give it to the Twin Maiden Husks to access his remaining stock.

Notes

  • Physical damage scales only with Arcane. Strength and Dexterity are requirements, but raising them does not improve the blade's normal attack power. Arcane scaling reaches S at maximum upgrade, although weapon upgrades still matter for its low starting damage.
  • Has no innate bleed, poison or sleep. Its unusual advantage is that grease and weapon enchantments can be applied despite its fixed affinity and strong Arcane scaling.
  • Arcane increases the direct poison, blood loss and sleep buildup added by compatible coatings. Blood Grease, Soporific Grease and Poison Armament are useful examples. Arcane does not turn Fire Grease into stronger Fire damage or increase frost buildup from Freezing Grease.
  • Bloodflame Blade's delayed bleed is different from the direct buildup of Blood Grease. That delayed bleed does not scale with Arcane, so do not choose it expecting the same Arcane benefit as grease.
  • Its fixed Wild Strikes skill costs 2 FP per repeated use, with light and heavy finishers costing another 10 and 15 FP. Repeated contacts can apply the chosen coating, but you still need an opening to stand close without being overwhelmed.
  • Its light chain speeds up after the first swing. The second charged heavy attack hits twice, with more of the damage coming at the end. The extra hit helps repeated-hit effects, but the full attack leaves you committed for longer.
  • Requires 11 Strength, 11 Dexterity and 20 Arcane, weighs 4.5 and has a normal critical rating of 100.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones to +25. Wild Strikes cannot be replaced, and its affinity cannot be changed. The ability to use grease is a specific exception, rather than permission to apply another Ash of War.
  • Pidia sells one for 3,500 runes. If his puppets have killed him after Ranni's quest advances, his bell bearing transfers the unpurchased blade to the Twin Maiden Husks. The inventory does not refill when the bearing is handed over.
