Where to find
Altus Plateau
Starting Site of Grace: Windmill Village
Before you go
- Reach Altus Plateau.
- Reach Altus Plateau with the Dectus Medallion halves from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth, or defeat Magma Wyrm Makar at the top of Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
- From Altus Highway Junction, follow the road north past the map monument to Forest-Spanning Greatbridge. The waygate beside that grace brings you to the northern end of the broken bridge.
- Leave the northern bridge end and follow the road east across northern Altus, toward the windmills. At the village junction, take the uphill path through the wooden entrance arch and activate Windmill Village grace.
- Follow the village path uphill and target dancers carrying the short, broad cleaver. The blue sickle carriers and long-rake carriers have different weapon drops.
- Defeat the cleaver carrier, collect any loot and rest at Windmill Village grace to repeat. The cleaver is a random drop; the Godskin Apostle is not required.
Notes
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales more strongly with Strength than Dexterity. Heavy emphasizes Strength, while Keen shifts the emphasis toward Dexterity; the rune reward does not scale with either attribute.
- Qualifying weapon hits grant 10 runes, separate from the reward for defeating an enemy. Its short trigger cooldown means one swing through several enemies does not pay ten runes for every target at once.
- Shares the Iron Cleaver's forward-running charged heavy attack. Start charging outside an enemy's reach and let the advance close the gap, but leave room to avoid running past a close target or off an edge.
- Its short blade needs close positioning. The first one-handed charged heavy attack deals 25 stance damage, less than the usual 30 for that axe attack, so the running animation does not guarantee a stronger stance break.
- Comes with Wild Strikes: hold the skill for repeated swings, then use a light or heavy attack for the matching finisher. The swings cost 2 FP per use, with 10 FP for the light follow-up or 15 for the heavy follow-up.
- Requires 12 Strength and 8 Dexterity, weighs 4.5 and has a normal critical rating of 100. It has no innate bleed despite its cutting appearance.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War and upgrades with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied with Standard, Heavy, Keen or Quality affinity; elemental and status affinities prevent ordinary weapon coatings.
- A rare drop from cleaver carriers, with a 0.5% base chance at 100 Item Discovery. Clothing drops do not mean the weapon is guaranteed on the next kill.
