In-game description
Axe made from a herbivore's skull. Weapon of the ancestral followers who disdain metal.
This axe is more of a bludgeon; it forgoes a bladed edge, instead using the beast's molar teeth to buffet foes, dealing strike damage.

Where to find
Siofra River
Starting Site of Grace: Worshippers' Woods
- Use Siofra River Well beside Mistwood's Minor Erdtree to descend underground.
- Follow the ruins, take the next lift and continue into the open river area to Siofra River Bank.
- From Siofra River Bank, continue north through the open river area to Worshippers' Woods grace. Watch for the ancestral archers rather than riding straight into their line of fire.
- Search just northwest of Worshippers' Woods for the small group of Ancestral Followers. Target warriors carrying a short jawbone axe; bow users can also carry this axe for close combat.
- Defeat the axe carriers, collect their drops and return to Worshippers' Woods to rest and repeat. Hammer carriers have a different weapon drop. No ancestor boss or flame-pillar puzzle is required.
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Ruined Labyrinth
- Start at Ruined Labyrinth grace in northeastern Liurnia, south of Mausoleum Compound. Climb the hill west-southwest from the grace toward the fur-clothed Ancestral Followers.
- Kill the warriors carrying a short jawbone axe, including bow users who switch to that weapon nearby. Collect their drops and return to the grace to repeat.
- This is an outdoor alternative to Siofra River. There is no need to ride a well lift or defeat an ancestor boss.
Notes
- Deals Strike damage despite belonging to the axe class. This gives it a useful alternative against enemies that resist cutting attacks or are especially vulnerable to blunt hits, including crystallized enemies after their stance is broken.
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales more strongly with Strength than Dexterity. Heavy emphasizes Strength, but choosing Heavy does not change its normal axe moveset into hammer attacks.
- Comes with Wild Strikes. Hold the skill for repeated swings, then use a light or heavy attack for its finisher. Each repeated use costs 2 FP, with 10 FP for the light finisher or 15 for the heavy finisher.
- Heavy affinity has an unusual drawback for skills whose damage is calculated separately from weapon attack power, such as Ground Slam and Flame of the Redmanes: their Strength contribution is slightly weaker than on a typical Heavy weapon. This does not reduce the axe's ordinary Strength scaling or apply to every Ash of War.
- Requires 14 Strength and 8 Dexterity, weighs 5.5 and has a critical rating of 100. It has no innate bleed, even though it is made from teeth.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War and upgrades with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied with Standard, Heavy, Keen or Quality affinity. Elemental and status affinities prevent ordinary weapon coatings.
- Ancestral Followers carrying the axe have a 2% base drop chance at 100 Item Discovery. The bow-carrying warriors can also use the axe, so they are worth including in the farm. The larger horn-hammer carriers do not share this weapon drop.
