About this Ash of War

Costs 14 FP and sends rolling explosions forward in a line. It cannot be charged or maintained by holding the input.

The damage and its scaling follow the equipped bottle. Firespark uses Dexterity for Fire, Chilling uses Dexterity and Intelligence for Magic, Lightning uses Dexterity and Faith, and Frenzyflame also has weaker Strength, Intelligence and Faith contributions.

A Chilling bottle can build frost and a Frenzyflame bottle can build madness. The skill does not apply the full ordinary weapon-status value on every spark, and cannot make an immune target vulnerable.

Where to find

Hill beside the soldiers' camp south of Shadow Keep

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Highroad Cross

  1. After defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, touch the withered arm in Miquella's cocoon at Mohgwyn Palace. Leave the arrival cave and activate Gravesite Plain grace.
  2. From Three-Path Cross, follow the eastern road over Ellac Greatbridge to Castle Front. Cross the northeastern bridge into Castle Ensis, passing the Troll Knight at the far end.
  3. Follow the path left at the top. Soldiers and dogs wait around the fires and stairway, so draw them out before climbing farther.
  4. Continue through the cave beyond the first campfire. Climb the ledges at its far exit, then follow the uphill path past the patrolling Black Knight.
  5. At the top is a closed gate with Miquella's Cross beside it. Activate Castle Ensis Checkpoint grace before attempting the detour.
  6. With the closed gate ahead, follow the wall to the right to the soldier crouching at the ledge. Drop to the ledge below, then into the hole leading to the flooded cave. Three dogs attack inside.
  7. Leave the cave and turn left toward the waterfall. Jump across the rock platforms, continue through the river arch and climb the ladder beside the falling water.
  8. Enter the room at the top, watching for an ambush on the left. Cross to the gate mechanism and turn it to open the shortcut back to Checkpoint grace.
  9. Climb the stairs and cross the guarded bridge. Continue past the dog ambush and spellcasting nobles to the stairs leading up toward the chapel.
  10. Moonrithyll, Carian Knight guards the chapel entrance. Defeat him or move past him carefully; the shield stairs and chapel altar are separate pickups here.
  11. Pass through the chapel behind Moonrithyll and continue along the castle's rising main route. Get past the sorcerers and the Black Knight guarding the final lift.
  12. Ride that lift to Castle-Lord's Chamber and activate the grace. Defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight in the nearby arena, then take the northern exit to Scadu Altus.
  13. Follow the path outside to Highroad Cross. Hornsent and Leda meet here before their later Shadow Keep events.
  14. From Highroad Cross, follow the main road north toward Shadow Keep. Stay outside the fortress and look for the soldiers' camp on the approach.
  15. Move to the hill on the camp's eastern side. There are perfumers here, so clear enough room to aim safely.
  16. Look above the hill for a flying scarab. Shoot it with a bow, spell or another ranged attack and finish it before it escapes. The kill awards Rolling Sparks.

Notes

  • Costs 14 FP and sends rolling explosions forward in a line. It cannot be charged or maintained by holding the input.
  • The damage and its scaling follow the equipped bottle. Firespark uses Dexterity for Fire, Chilling uses Dexterity and Intelligence for Magic, Lightning uses Dexterity and Faith, and Frenzyflame also has weaker Strength, Intelligence and Faith contributions.
  • A Chilling bottle can build frost and a Frenzyflame bottle can build madness. The skill does not apply the full ordinary weapon-status value on every spark, and cannot make an immune target vulnerable.
  • Aim along the target's body or its approach so it remains in the line as later sparks detonate. A small or fast enemy may avoid much of the sequence.
  • Perfumer's Talisman and Shard of Alexander can both improve damage. Godfrey Icon does not apply because the skill cannot be charged.
  • Older setups that stacked the entire chain by aiming into the ground no longer represent its normal current behavior. Its value depends on actual contacts along the line.
  • Can use this Ash of War on compatible Perfume Bottle weapons. Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle has its own fixed skill and is excluded. The affinity stays Standard.
  • The flying scarab is above the eastern hill beside the army camp south of Shadow Keep. Shoot it down and finish it; the perfume weapon chest near Castle Front is a different pickup.
