About this Ash of War

Costs 11 FP for one volley. A further skill input throws a second volley for another 11 FP, making the two-stage sequence 22 FP.

Up to four blades from a volley can damage one target. A wide enemy at close range can catch more of the spread, but not every visible blade automatically counts as another hit.

On Throwing Blades, each close blade uses 88% of weapon attack power, dropping to 53% at long range. The weapon's affinity and attributes determine the damage split.

Where to find

Scarab on a ruined pillar near the road to Taylew's Ruined Forge

Rauh Base

Starting Site of Grace: Ancient Ruins Base

  1. To reach lower Rauh, start near Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus. Go north to the pond, follow the tunnel past the perfumers and continue through the poisonous area until the path opens into Rauh Base.
  2. Activate Ancient Ruins Base. Follow the road northeast toward Taylew's Ruined Forge, staying in the lower valley rather than trying to reach the ruins overhead.
  3. Before the large bridge crossing above the road, look to the east for a broken stone pillar with a scarab on it.
  4. Use a ranged attack to knock down or kill the scarab, then finish it before it escapes. The kill awards Scattershot Throw.

Notes

  • Costs 11 FP for one volley. A further skill input throws a second volley for another 11 FP, making the two-stage sequence 22 FP.
  • Up to four blades from a volley can damage one target. A wide enemy at close range can catch more of the spread, but not every visible blade automatically counts as another hit.
  • On Throwing Blades, each close blade uses 88% of weapon attack power, dropping to 53% at long range. The weapon's affinity and attributes determine the damage split.
  • Each blade applies 70% of the weapon's status buildup. Four contacts can build status quickly, but the volley is not four full-status heavy attacks.
  • Each Throwing Blade contact gives 2 stance damage close up or 1.4 farther away. Closing the gap helps both damage and stance pressure when it is safe.
  • Deals Pierce Physical damage. Spear Talisman helps qualifying Physical counterhits, while Smithing Talisman and Shard of Alexander give their separate throw and skill bonuses.
  • Godfrey Icon does not improve it because the skill cannot be charged. Waiting before the follow-up does not turn the next volley into a charged attack.
  • Claws of Night has its own fixed version, with different attack-power and stance values. The transferable Ash does not make Smithscript Dagger use the claws' higher attack rating or innate Blood Loss.
  • Against other players, the skill has a larger damage reduction than the usual skill adjustment and does not cause the old headshot stagger. It is less reliable for locking down a player than a large nearby enemy.
  • The Ash works on Throwing Blades, not ordinary Daggers or every Smithscript weapon. Both volleys use the weapon and FP rather than consuming inventory throwing knives.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Throwing Blade. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Keen. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
