In-game description
Scorpion simmered in a black soup.
Traditional meal of the hornsent.
Boosts physical damage negation temporarily and gradually restores HP.
Having long gone cold, this soup gives off a rank, sour smell.
Where to find
Hornsent Grandam's locked storeroom
Belurat, Tower Settlement
Starting Site of Grace: Small Private Altar
Before you go
- Storeroom Key
- Divine Beast Head
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- From Three-Path Cross, follow the western route through the rocky passage to Main Gate Cross outside Belurat.
- Climb the entrance stairs and open the large doors. Pass the giant scorpions and the room of smaller scorpions, then continue upstairs to Belurat, Tower Settlement grace.
- The large doors ahead are shut. Take the path right into the small square with the waterfall, then turn left toward the elevated bridge where shadow casters fire down at you.
- Pass beneath the elevated bridge and enter the open doorway on the left. Clear the shadow enemies and climb the building's stairs to Small Private Altar grace.
- Leave through the northern doorway and climb the stairs on the right. The Horned Warrior with two curved swords patrols just above the grace.
- Past the patrolling Horned Warrior, take the narrow alley on the right to get around the broken bridge. Watch the corners for shadow enemies and continue toward the shallow channel at the top of the waterfall.
- Enter the room beside the waterfall channel and climb its ladder. Collect Storeroom Key from the corpse at the top before going through the upper doorway.
- Return to Small Private Altar and use the other exit onto the bridge with the two shadow casters. Clear them, cross the bridge and unlock the storeroom door for Hornsent Grandam.
- After opening the storeroom, return to Small Private Altar and follow the same uphill route past the Horned Warrior to the waterfall-side ladder. Climb it, leave through the upper doorway and take the stairs on the right toward the rooftop fork.
- At the next fork, the left route leads toward the scorpion room and the shortcut lift. For Stagefront, take the right-hand route across the rooftops with Gravebirds. Clear the birds and the caster near the far end before crossing.
- Return to the street and cross the covered bridge. A pot-carrying shadow runs here, and a Horned Warrior waits beyond it. Keep the fight away from the narrow bridge if you need room.
- Continue to the courtyard with the large tree and praying shadows. Cross to the large doorway and enter the upper level of the scorpion hall.
- Climb the spiral staircase, watching for the Curseblade's spinning attacks. Continue up the final stairs and activate Stagefront grace before opening the boss doors.
- Defeat Divine Beast Dancing Lion. Activate Theatre of the Divine Beast grace and collect the large Divine Beast Head from the arena floor before leaving. The remembrance is a separate direct boss reward.
- Equip Divine Beast Head and return to Grandam's storeroom across the caster bridge from Small Private Altar. Finish her conversation to receive Watchful Spirit.
- Rest or reload, then speak to her again for ordinary Scorpion Stew. Complete this opening conversation before defeating Messmer.
- Before Messmer's defeat changes her reward, use or store your carried stew and return for another serving. Giving one to Hornsent is an optional conversation reward, not required to eat it.
Notes
- For 60 seconds, reduces physical damage taken by 10% in PvE or 8% against other players and restores 8 HP per second.
- The defense and healing are separate buffs. The defense competes with Boiled Crab and other body buffs; the healing competes with effects such as Blessing of the Erdtree.
- You can carry only one. Before Grandam's final quest stage, you can return for another after using it; placing one in storage also lets you receive a second to carry.
- You can give a serving to Hornsent as part of his conversation for Furnace Visages. That is optional, so keep it if you want to use the food yourself.
- Defeating Messmer changes Grandam's reward to Gourmet Scorpion Stew. Speak to her and collect the ordinary version before that stage if you want it.
- The full healing effect can restore up to 480 HP over its minute, at 8 HP per second. Healing done while your HP is full is wasted rather than saved for later.
- Replacing the body protection and replacing the regeneration are separate interactions. For example, another body buff can remove the protection without making every other benefit part of that same slot.
- Armor, a Dragoncrest talisman and Golden Vow's separate aura can add further Physical protection. Their damage reductions multiply.
- Open Grandam's conversation with Divine Beast Head before defeating Messmer. After the initial headpiece conversation, you do not need to keep wearing it for every serving.
- This is a meal, not a crafting material or recipe unlock. Spending it does not replenish a flask, and resting alone does not create a fresh serving.
