Crafting after obtaining Glintstone Craftsman's Cookbook [4]

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Academy Gate Town

Before you go

• Crafting Kit
• Glintstone Craftsman's Cookbook [4]
• Ingredients per batch: 1 Root Resin, 1 Silver Tear Husk and 1 Crystal Bud

1. From Academy Gate Town grace, head northwest into the flooded buildings below Raya Lucaria.
2. Look for the partly submerged church with Albinaurics on its roof and the small tower beside it.
3. Use the exposed rooftops to reach the tower opening, then jump inside and open the chest for the cookbook.
4. The pickup is in the flooded town outside the academy. You do not need the Academy Glintstone Key or access through its entry seal.
5. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if needed, then gather one Root Resin, one Silver Tear Husk and one Crystal Bud.
6. Open Item Crafting outside combat and make Shield Grease. One craft makes one; using it consumes the prepared grease rather than the cookbook.

Notes

• Coats the guarding armament, normally your left-hand shield, for 60 seconds. It reduces damage passing through a block and the stamina lost while blocking.
• Reduces the damage that passes through the shield by 20%. For example, a shield blocking 60% of a damage type blocks 68% with the coating. It does not add a flat 20 percentage points or turn every shield into a complete block.
• Reduces blocked stamina damage by 35% after normal Guard Boost is applied. This is not 35 extra Guard Boost. A shield with 100% physical negation still benefits from this stamina reduction.
• The protection applies while guarding with the coated armament. It does not reduce an unblocked hit simply because the item is active.
• Shield coatings have different compatibility from offensive weapon grease, including use with shield affinities. Another shield coating, such as Scholar's Shield or Barricade Shield, replaces it instead of stacking as a second coating.
• Costs no FP and consumes one grease per application. Carry up to 10 and store another 600. It has no Intelligence requirement, unlike the spell alternative.
• The recipe needs one Root Resin, one Silver Tear Husk and one Crystal Bud. The cookbook chest is outside Raya Lucaria in Academy Gate Town, so the Academy Glintstone Key is unnecessary.
