About this Ash of War
The ready stance costs no FP. Fire with the attack input for the selected greatarrow slot to spend 9 FP and one greatarrow.
The empowered greatarrow can pass through enemies, letting one shot hit several targets lined up behind each other. Aim through the front enemy toward the group rather than spreading targets across the screen.
A greatbow is slow to ready and release. Create distance first, and do not treat the large arrow as a guarantee that a nearby boss will stagger before reaching you.

In-game description
This Ash of War grants no affinity to an armament, but imparts the following skill:
"Through and Through: Powerful archery skill using a greatbow held in an oblique stance. Ready the greatbow, then twist the bowstring to fire a mighty greatarrow that can penetrate through enemies."
Usable on greatbows.
Where to find
Invisible scarab near Road of Iniquity
Mt. Gelmir
Starting Site of Grace: Road of Iniquity
- One way to reach Volcano Manor is Rya's invitation: recover her necklace from the man at Boilprawn Shack, return it to her in southern Liurnia, then speak to her after reaching Altus. She appears by Grand Lift of Dectus for lift arrivals or near Lux Ruins for the precipice route and offers to bring you to the manor.
- Reach Volcano Manor's main entrance at the top of Mt. Gelmir. Outside the manor, follow the downhill road northwest toward Road of Iniquity.
- Look for glowing tracks circling on the ground along this approach. The scarab itself is invisible.
- Stand ahead of the tracks and attack as they reach you. Killing the scarab awards Through and Through.
Notes
- The ready stance costs no FP. Fire with the attack input for the selected greatarrow slot to spend 9 FP and one greatarrow.
- The empowered greatarrow can pass through enemies, letting one shot hit several targets lined up behind each other. Aim through the front enemy toward the group rather than spreading targets across the screen.
- A greatbow is slow to ready and release. Create distance first, and do not treat the large arrow as a guarantee that a nearby boss will stagger before reaching you.
- The ammunition still matters. A Golden Great Arrow has different elemental and support effects from an ordinary greatarrow; the skill does not replace them with one universal projectile.
- Penetrating enemies does not mean penetrating every wall or piece of scenery. Keep a clear route to the first target.
- Erdtree Greatbow and Golem Greatbow have fixed versions of this skill. The invisible scarab near Road of Iniquity gives the separate transferable Ash; those weapon skills cannot be removed to obtain it.
- Damage uses the equipped bow and selected ammunition, including the bow's reinforcement and actual attribute scaling. The skill does not supply free arrows or give every bow new Intelligence, Faith or Arcane scaling.
- Shard of Alexander improves the damaging skill shots, while holding the ready stance does not qualify for Godfrey Icon. An arrow-damage bonus increases damage rather than directly increasing ailment buildup.
- This Ash uses the Standard affinity. Its equipment type does not receive the usual melee affinity choices.
- Compatible weapon classes: Greatbow. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
