About this Ash of War

Costs 16 FP and spreads perfume around you, with explosions after a short delay. Charge it for a stronger, wider pattern; the charged version uses the same FP payment.

The equipped bottle determines its damage type and scaling. It is a weapon-based perfume skill, rather than an independent Fire spell that always scales with Faith.

Chilling can add frost buildup and Frenzyflame can add madness buildup. The amount per contact differs from a normal weapon attack, so the number of visible sparks is not a guaranteed number of full status applications.

In-game description

This Ash of War grants no affinity to an armament, but imparts the following skill:

"Wall of Sparks: Scatter perfumed powder in vicinity, producing intense sparks after a brief delay. Can be charged to increase power and range. The properties of the sparks are determined by the perfume bottle used."

Usable on perfume bottles.

Where to find

Balcony below the Specimen Storehouse

Shadow Keep

Starting Site of Grace: Storehouse, First Floor

  1. Enter the Realm of Shadow after defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, by touching the withered arm in Mohg's arena.
  2. From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, follow the main road north to Shadow Keep's southern gate. Ride the entrance lift and activate Shadow Keep Main Gate grace.
  3. Defeat Golden Hippopotamus in the plaza. This is the front-door route; the flooded Church District provides a different way into the keep.
  4. From Main Gate Plaza, leave through the west-northwest doorway, pass through the armory and climb the stairs. Continue up the wooden steps to the dining hall, where two Black Knights guard the route.
  5. Leave the dining hall through its southeastern exit to the upper rampart. Follow the rampart past the burning boats and watch for the small Shadow Militiamen hiding beside them.
  6. Take the stairs leading north-northeast toward the large lift, passing the Fire Knight in front of it. Ride up and activate Storehouse, First Floor grace.
  7. At Storehouse, First Floor, take the western side passage and lift down to the lower jar rooms. This is the West Rampart branch, rather than the stairs climbing toward Messmer.
  8. At the bottom of the western Storehouse side lift, take the first passage on the right, then the left exit onto the balcony. Watch for the Living Jar waiting near the doorway.
  9. Loot the balcony corpse for Wall of Sparks. This is before continuing through the jar ward toward West Rampart; Salza and Messmer are unnecessary for this pickup.

Notes

  • Costs 16 FP and spreads perfume around you, with explosions after a short delay. Charge it for a stronger, wider pattern; the charged version uses the same FP payment.
  • The equipped bottle determines its damage type and scaling. It is a weapon-based perfume skill, rather than an independent Fire spell that always scales with Faith.
  • Chilling can add frost buildup and Frenzyflame can add madness buildup. The amount per contact differs from a normal weapon attack, so the number of visible sparks is not a guaranteed number of full status applications.
  • The delay and charging animation leave room for an enemy to interrupt you. Start it during a safe opening instead of expecting the initial motion to protect you immediately.
  • Perfumer's Talisman and Shard of Alexander improve its damage. Godfrey Icon also applies to the charged version, unlike Rolling Sparks.
  • Axe Talisman is for qualifying charged heavy attacks, rather than this charged skill. Charging does not make every charged-attack bonus interchangeable.
  • Can use this Ash of War on compatible Perfume Bottle weapons, excluding Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle's fixed skill. The affinity remains Standard.
  • This uses FP from a reusable weapon. It does not spend the prepared Spark Aromatics or Perfume Bottles used for consumable crafting.
