In-game description
Weapon of Godfrey, Elden Lord. It was broken in a battle fought as leader of the Tarnished during the Long March. This weapon is symbolic of Godfrey's vow to conduct himself as a lord, later becoming an emblem of the golden lineage. In the days of the past, a crown was warranted with strength.
Skill
Let loose a mighty war cry, raising attack power, while sending out a shockwave that cannot be guarded against by stomping the ground. While active, strong attack becomes a lunging slash.
Where to find
Leyndell, Ashen Capital
Starting Site of Grace: Queen's Bedchamber
Before you go
- Defeat Maliketh to reach Leyndell, Ashen Capital, then defeat Sir Gideon Ofnir and reach Queen's Bedchamber.
- Keep the Remembrance of Hoarah Loux and bring 15,000 runes for the exchange.
- Defeat Maliketh to return to the changed capital. Cross the ash toward the Erdtree and climb the familiar root route toward the sanctuary.
- Defeat Sir Gideon Ofnir in the sanctuary, then continue up to Queen's Bedchamber.
- Climb to the arena before the Erdtree and defeat Godfrey. Continue through his Hoarah Loux phase to finish the encounter and receive the remembrance.
- Return to Roundtable Hold and speak to Finger Reader Enia in the Two Fingers chamber. Exchange Remembrance of Hoarah Loux and 15,000 runes for Axe of Godfrey.
- Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker is the other remembrance reward. Use a compatible duplication site if you want both choices during the same journey.
Notes
- Requires 42 Strength and 14 Dexterity, and weighs 18. It deals Physical damage with stronger Strength scaling and a smaller Dexterity contribution. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 28 Strength, but you still need the full Dexterity requirement.
- Regal Roar costs 25 FP. The opening roar staggers nearby enemies, then the stomp releases a damaging shockwave that ignores blocking.
- The skill grants a 40-second weapon buff that improves Physical attack power by 7.5%, adds to the weapon's Strength scaling and changes its heavy attacks. It does not add five points to your character's Strength stat.
- During the buff, the first heavy attack combines a stomp with a broad axe sweep. The next heavy is an upward strike. Charging gives stronger versions, including the scraping motion before the later launch.
- The stomp shockwaves ignore guard, but the axe contacts can still be blocked or parried. The changed moveset is especially useful against an opponent waiting behind a shield.
- Roar Medallion and an actively held Highland Axe improve the altered heavy attacks. Axe Talisman improves the charged heavy attacks. Godfrey Icon does not boost them merely because the weapon belongs to Godfrey.
- Shard of Alexander improves the damaging skill activation, rather than turning all buffed ordinary heavy attacks into skill attacks. The changed heavy attacks use their relevant ordinary-attack bonuses.
- The buff does not make every heavy attack safe to finish. The long scraping or sweeping motions leave time for a large enemy to retaliate even when smaller enemies are staggered.
- Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
- Only the later Godfrey and Hoarah Loux encounter awards this remembrance. The golden shade in the original capital does not unlock the axe.
- Do not consume the remembrance for runes if you want to use that copy at Enia. The axe also requires 15,000 runes in addition to the remembrance.
