About this spirit

Costs 122 FP and summons a battlemage with a club and Haima sorceries. The whole payment needs to fit in your available FP at the moment you summon him.

Cannon of Haima gives him an explosive ranged Magic attack, while Gavel of Haima covers close enemies with the large magical hammer. Susceptible enemies can be knocked down, but large bosses do not automatically fall over.

His club deals Physical strike damage, giving him another attack when an enemy closes in. He is not restricted to firing spells from a fixed position.

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.

Use to summon the spirit of Battlemage Hugues.

Hugues came from Sellia to study the Haima Conspectus at the academy, where he became a battlemage.

Haima scholars seek to quell conflict with cannon fire and the gavel, but Hugues developed a longing for it.

Starting Site of Grace: Dragonbarrow West

  1. Reach Caelem Ruins on the main road through northwestern Caelid. From the grace, ride east toward the narrow ravine separating the red ground from Dragonbarrow's higher plateau.
  2. Use Torrent to jump the narrow crossing, then continue east along the road to Dragonbarrow West grace. This route avoids having to open Sellia's sealed upper gate.
  3. Go south from Dragonbarrow West toward the western end of the long smoldering wall. Circle around the end of the wall onto the southern shelf, keeping to the ground instead of dropping over the outer cliff.
  4. Follow the shelf to the protruding cliff holding Sellia Evergaol. Look for the circular stone seal on the high ground above Sellia and Abandoned Cave, rather than descending toward the town or mine.
  5. Interact with the centre of the circle to enter. Defeat Battlemage Hugues alone for his ashes; Spirit Ashes and other players cannot help inside the evergaol.
  6. The spirit is awarded for the victory. The Battlemage outfit comes from the particular enemy in northern Altus, while Sellia Crystal Tunnel has a different boss and rewards.

  • His club deals Physical strike damage, giving him another attack when an enemy closes in. He is not restricted to firing spells from a fixed position.
  • The large spells take time to perform. Summon where he has a clear view and keep pressure on the enemy so he has an opening to finish those casts.
  • His spell damage belongs to the spirit and its upgrade level. Raising your Intelligence, equipping Haima Glintstone Crown or holding a school-boosting staff does not give him your casting stats.
  • Upgrade him with Ghost Glovewort to +10. The FP cost does not increase with each upgrade.
  • Defeating the evergaol boss gives the spirit, not the Battlemage clothing. You can get the clothes separately in northern Altus without finishing this evergaol.
