About this spirit
Costs 115 FP and summons a Blackflame Monk with a mace and black-flame incantations.
His black flame adds damage over time based partly on the target's maximum HP. Its usefulness is not limited to the initial fire hit against a large-health enemy.
The mace supplies a close-range option, while the spells let him attack beyond melee range. Large casting animations still give an enemy time to interrupt him.

In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirit of Amon, the Blackflame Monk.
Amon swore fealty to the god-slaying black flame, and so became the first fire monk to turn traitor.
Or perhaps it is better said that he fled from the Giants' Flame—out of cowardice.
Where to find
Stray Mimic Tear boss
Hidden Path to the Haligtree
Starting Site of Grace: Hidden Path to the Haligtree
Before you go
- Both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.
- Obtain the right Haligtree Secret Medallion half from Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics. He is disguised as a pot on the uphill path, before the bridge leading toward the Omenkiller.
- Obtain the left half from the tower beyond Commander Niall at Castle Sol in the northern Mountaintops. After winning, continue behind his arena, ride the lift and loot the rooftop corpse.
- Return to Grand Lift of Rold with both halves and switch to the secret-medallion prompt. The ordinary Rold Medallion sends you to a different destination.
- Inside Hidden Path to the Haligtree, go along the main stairs to the circular platform above the deep central room. Look for the section of railing that has broken away.
- Walk straight off through that gap onto the invisible floor immediately below. Drop a Rainbow Stone first to confirm the landing, and avoid jumping out toward the distant wall.
- Walk north, then turn west when aligned with the enemy and doorway across the gap. Reach that doorway and clear the enemies inside.
- Return to the invisible edge, turn south and drop onto the lower ledge. Go through the open window and follow the lower passage.
- Climb the stairs to the northern upper platform and pull the lever on its rear wall. Watch for the large land octopus dropping into the room.
- Return south through the lower corridor to the opened boss doors. Defeat the Stray Mimic Tear for Amon.
- The chest in the arena contains Deathroot, which is a separate pickup.
Notes
- Costs 115 FP and summons a Blackflame Monk with a mace and black-flame incantations.
- His black flame adds damage over time based partly on the target's maximum HP. Its usefulness is not limited to the initial fire hit against a large-health enemy.
- The mace supplies a close-range option, while the spells let him attack beyond melee range. Large casting animations still give an enemy time to interrupt him.
- He is separate from ordinary Fire Monk Ashes. The black-flame damage-over-time effect is a meaningful difference between the summons.
- Upgrade him with Ghost Glovewort rather than Grave Glovewort.
- The Stray Mimic Tear in Hidden Path to the Haligtree awards him. The Deathroot in its arena is a separate chest pickup, not a replacement for winning the fight.
- The mace deals physical Strike damage and the black-flame spells deal Fire damage. Enemy Fire resistance reduces the direct Fire hits, rather than describing every part of his damage.
- Black flame's separate health drain is not ordinary Poison or Scarlet Rot. A boss can resist the Fire impact while the health-based part remains useful.
- His spells are his own actions. Holding Godslayer's Seal, increasing your Faith or wearing Blackflame Monk armor does not pass those personal casting bonuses to him.
- Upgrade through Roderika to +10 using Ghost Glovewort and a Great Ghost Glovewort for the final level. The summoning cost stays the same.
- Needs Spirit Calling Bell, enough available FP and the rebirth-monument icon that permits spirit summoning. The ash remains reusable, but a defeated summon cannot simply be replaced during the same encounter.
