Where to find
Forbidden Lands
Starting Site of Grace: Forbidden Lands
Before you go
- Defeat Morgott and open the route from Leyndell to the Forbidden Lands.
- After defeating Morgott, leave Leyndell through its eastern route toward the Forbidden Lands. Cross the long bridge and take the lift down in the circular tower at its end. Activate Forbidden Lands grace just outside the bottom of that lift.
- From the grace, turn back into the lift building and ride upward. Face the southwestern wall of the shaft and watch for the small landing and open doorway shortly after the platform starts rising.
- Step or roll onto the landing when it is level with the platform. If you miss it, ride back down and try again rather than jumping down the shaft.
- Follow the hallway past the seated corpse carrying Official's Attire. Open the door at the end and collect Blade of Calling from the desk inside.
- This is the lift between Leyndell and the Forbidden Lands. You do not need to reach the Grand Lift of Rold or take the separate bridge toward the Divine Tower of East Altus.
Notes
- Normal attacks deal physical and Holy damage. Dexterity gives stronger physical scaling than Strength at equal investment, while Faith improves the Holy damage. These are separate parts of the attack, so a single scaling letter does not tell you the best stat spread for every build.
- Blade of Gold fires a Holy projectile after a short leap and costs 17 FP. Its projectile damage scales with Faith and the weapon's upgrade level; extra Dexterity or Strength does not strengthen that projectile.
- The projectile can throw back enemies that are vulnerable to that reaction. This is useful for keeping an approaching enemy away, but larger enemies and bosses will not all be knocked down.
- Despite its golden flame appearance, Blade of Gold deals Holy damage rather than Fire. Unlike Black Knife's Blade of Death, it does not lower maximum HP or leave the same ongoing health-drain effect.
- Its heavy attack chain includes quick double slashes, shared with Black Knife, Erdsteel Dagger and Fire Knight's Shortsword. Both hits need to connect to get the full attack and help build consecutive-attack bonuses.
- Blade of Gold is fixed. You cannot change the affinity, replace the skill with another Ash of War, or apply grease or a weapon enchantment.
- Requires 6 Strength, 13 Dexterity and 15 Faith, weighs 1.5 and has a critical rating of 110. The critical rating applies to backstabs and ripostes, not the projectile.
- Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones, up to +10. Official's Attire is on a separate corpse in the hallway outside the weapon's room.
