Starting Site of Grace: Rampart Tower

Before you go

Reach Rampart Tower grace by following Stormveil's side entrance after Margit. Bring one Stonesword Key for the armory barrier.
Leave toward the rampart with the barrel-carrying hawks. Follow it to the chapel roof, then descend into the chapel where Rogier can be found.
Leave the chapel, pass the patrolling knight and follow the connecting rooms into the large hall with the Grafted Scion. Keep clear of the Scion if you do not want to fight it.
Find the side doorway beside the hall leading into the small open area with the imp statue and fog barrier. If you have already opened the Rampart Tower lift shortcut, riding it down brings you back near this hall.
Spend one Stonesword Key at the imp statue. Deal with the two axe-wielding Exiles beyond the barrier and loot the corpse holding Miséricorde.
Collect Hawk Crest Wooden Shield and Iron Whetblade from the same armory before leaving. The key opens the barrier permanently for this journey.

Its critical rating is 140, the highest rating among the weapons in the current roster. It is particularly useful as a dedicated backstab or riposte weapon after a parry or stance break.
That 140 rating does not make ordinary light attacks deal 40% extra damage. Upgrade level, affinity, your stats and the enemy's defenses still matter when choosing a critical weapon.
On Standard affinity, Dexterity gives stronger physical scaling than Strength at equal investment. Other affinities change that setup, so choose the affinity around your actual attributes and the damage type you need for critical attacks.
Its heavy attacks use thrusts rather than the quick double-slash heavy attack found on Black Knife and Erdsteel Dagger. Do not assume every dagger has the same attack chain.
Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Quickstep is the starting skill.
Bring one Stonesword Key for the sealed Stormveil armory. Iron Whetblade and Hawk Crest Wooden Shield are in the same room, so collect them while the barrier is open.
Upgrade it with Smithing Stones, up to +25.
