About this spirit
Costs 129 FP and summons an agile Demi-Human swordsman with fast sword techniques and magic-infused attacks.
His movement and close-range combinations make him more active than a stationary sorcerer. Give him room to engage rather than summoning behind a wall that blocks his approach.
Quick movement does not guarantee safety from broad attacks or a long boss combo. Enemies that resist his magic also reduce the benefit of that part of his damage.
Technical details
Separate summoning cost and upgrade fields are not recorded for this spirit. The description and notes contain the reviewed information.
In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirit of Yosh, the demi-human swordsman.
Onze, a master swordsman who devoted himself to the Star-Lined Sword, realized that only ruin awaited at the end of the procession of stars, and imprisoned himself in order to forestall it.
However, Yosh, an apprentice who absorbed his technique, stubbornly refused to heed his master's words, and spent his entire life at his side, in defiance of his self-imposed seclusion.
Where to find
Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze in Belurat Gaol
Gravesite Plain
Starting Site of Grace: Belurat Gaol
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- From Three-Path Cross, follow the road northwest toward the lake below Belurat. Enter the cage-lined gully on the lake's western side to find Belurat Gaol.
- Follow the left ledge down the stairs, watching the cell doorway for an ambush. When the stairs collapse, cross the bridge ahead and go through the right-hand window in the room of jars.
- Continue through the dining room and along the ledge to the circular shaft. Descend using the hanging jars, checking each landing and keeping clear of their chains.
- Reach the floor below the wooden scaffolding and continue through the low doorway. Cross the next bridge, then take the left stairs that collapse into the jar maze.
- In the jar maze, follow the passage as it bends right toward the corpse holding Lost Ashes of War. Continue past the opening left by the prisoner's broken jar. Look for the exit doorway beyond the fallen jars, beside a corpse holding two Smithing Stone (6). The piles leading onto the jars are optional container and cookbook detours.
- Leave the maze and descend the stairs. Clear the Living Jars, then approach the small gap carefully: a jar prisoner across it can lash out and knock you off during the jump. Draw it toward you before crossing.
- Cross the gap and deal with the remaining jar-headed prisoners on the next platform. Draw them back one at a time if needed rather than fighting all of them beside the drop.
- At the far end of this platform, take the hanging jar downward toward the lower ledges instead of using the separate upward lift to the shrine. Descend one ledge at a time to the Stake of Marika and fog gate.
- Defeat Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze for Yosh's ashes. Onze is a quick sword fighter with long combinations; wait for a combination to finish before committing to a slow attack. The reward is Yosh, rather than Onze himself.
Notes
- Costs 129 FP and summons an agile Demi-Human swordsman with fast sword techniques and magic-infused attacks.
- His movement and close-range combinations make him more active than a stationary sorcerer. Give him room to engage rather than summoning behind a wall that blocks his approach.
- Quick movement does not guarantee safety from broad attacks or a long boss combo. Enemies that resist his magic also reduce the benefit of that part of his damage.
- Upgrade him with Ghost Glovewort, up to +10. His 129-FP cost must fit in the FP available for the summon.
- Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze awards him at the end of Belurat Gaol. This is separate from the Belurat settlement above, and no NPC quest is required for the boss reward.
- The gaol's upward hanging-jar detour leads toward the Greatjar headpiece. The route to Onze continues down through the maze and lower platforms.
- Upgrading the ashes does not reduce the 129-FP summoning cost. If your available FP is too low, the temporary FP-cost removal from Cerulean Hidden Tear can help with the summon.
- He does not grant you his sword or a passive Magic damage bonus. His weapon and techniques belong to the summoned spirit.
