In-game description
Great iron wheel lined with flesh-flaying blades. Device of torture used by Inquisitor Ghiza. As the wheel spins it causes severe pain and blood loss.
The design was adopted for use as the iconic weapon wielded by Iron Virgins.
Skill
Strike the wheel against the ground to set it spinning at top speed. Hold to keep the wheel spinning. Can be used while walking to push the armament into enemies.
Where to find
Mt. Gelmir
Starting Site of Grace: Volcano Manor
- At Scenic Isle in southern Liurnia, head east toward the stone gazebo near the telescope. Speak to Rya about her stolen necklace before entering Volcano Manor, which ends this early meeting.
- Ride northwest across the shallow lake to Boilprawn Shack. Talk to Boggart beside the cooking pot, ask for the necklace and choose Deal to open the purchase.
- Buy Rya's Necklace for 1,000 runes. Buying it keeps Boggart alive and opens his prawn shop; purchase at least one Boiled Prawn if you want his later move and crab stock.
- Return to Rya in the gazebo and give her the necklace. Finish her dialogue to receive Volcano Manor Invitation.
- Reach Altus Plateau through the Grand Lift of Dectus with the medallion halves from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth, or by defeating Magma Wyrm Makar at Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Rya waits at the top of Dectus for lift arrivals, or by Lux Ruins near Erdtree-Gazing Hill for the precipice route. Speak to her and accept her hand to travel to Volcano Manor.
- From the manor entrance grace, climb the main staircase to the upper dining room. Walk toward the corpse at its far end to trigger Inquisitor Ghiza's invasion.
- Defeat Ghiza to receive his wheel. The long tables provide space to retreat from its spinning attacks. You do not need to join Tanith or enter the prison-town dungeon for this encounter.
Notes
- Physical damage has equal Strength and Dexterity scaling. It requires 28 Strength and 18 Dexterity, weighs 19.0 and has a normal critical rating of 100. Two-handing lets 19 Strength meet the Strength requirement, but does not lower the Dexterity requirement.
- Normal hits add 70 blood loss buildup. The weapon has no Arcane scaling, so additional Arcane does not improve that buildup. Enemies immune to bleed still take the ordinary physical damage.
- One-handed heavy attacks keep the wheel turning briefly against the target, creating extra contacts. In the two-handed heavy chain, this happens on the second heavy rather than the first. Keep the spinning edge against the enemy to land the extra hits.
- Those normal heavy-attack contacts can activate Winged Sword Insignia, Millicent's Prosthesis and Godskin Swaddling Cloth. Charged heavies can also benefit from Axe Talisman. This is one reason to use its normal heavy attacks rather than relying entirely on the skill.
- Spinning Wheel costs 3 FP to start and continues spending 3 FP per drain while held. You can walk forward while keeping it against an enemy. The displayed starting cost does not cover an unlimited spin.
- The held skill does not benefit from repeated-hit bonuses in the same way as the normal heavy attacks, despite its appearance. Shard of Alexander improves skill damage, while Godfrey Icon does not apply to a held channel.
- Holding the skill leaves you close to the target and vulnerable to interruption. Stop when the enemy is leaving its reach or starting an attack you cannot withstand, rather than spending the rest of your FP spinning at empty space.
- Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied. Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones to +10.
- The wheel is Ghiza's guaranteed invasion reward. The Abductor Virgins carrying similar wheels do not drop it, and Item Discovery does not improve this reward.
