In-game description

Hefty whip woven from the flame-red hair of a Fire Giant.

Every giant is red of hair, and Radagon was said to have despised his own red locks. Perhaps that was a curse of their kind.

Imbue the red braid with the Giants' Flame and lash out in a wide range with a series of agile swings.

Mountaintops of the Giants

Starting Site of Grace: Foot of the Forge

Before you go

  • Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants and defeat Fire Giant.
  1. Reach the southern Mountaintops and cross the giant chain beyond Guardians' Garrison. Follow the Fire Giant approach to Foot of the Forge grace.
  2. From Foot of the Forge, cross one of the large chains over the chasm and enter Fire Giant's arena. Defeat him to receive Remembrance of the Fire Giant.
  3. Return to Enia beside the Two Fingers at Roundtable Hold. Exchange Remembrance of the Fire Giant for Giant's Red Braid. Burn, O Flame! is the other remembrance reward.

Notes

  • Requires 18 Strength, 12 Dexterity and 21 Faith, and weighs only 2.5. Strength provides the strongest Physical scaling, Dexterity a smaller contribution, and Faith improves Fire damage.
  • This is a Strength-oriented whip rather than the usual Dexterity-focused choice. Its ordinary attacks deal Physical Strike and Fire damage, with no innate Blood Loss buildup.
  • Flame Dance costs 25 FP for the complete five-swing sequence. It does not charge another 25 FP for each individual swing, although the full sequence uses 70 stamina.
  • The skill uses the whip's Physical and Fire attack power. Strength improves its Physical part and Faith its Fire part; it is not an independently Faith-only flame spell.
  • The first four contacts are lighter and the final swing is stronger. All five deal 4 stance damage each, for 20 if the whole sequence connects.
  • Shard of Alexander improves Flame Dance. Each Dancer armor piece also improves this dancing attack by 2.5%, about 10.4% with all four pieces. Godfrey Icon does not improve it because it cannot be charged.
  • Consecutive-hit bonuses can build as the whip connects, while Fire bonuses improve the Fire portion. Flame, Grant Me Strength helps both of its damage types.
  • Like other ordinary whips, it cannot perform backstabs or ripostes and cannot be parried. Keep another weapon available if you want to use a critical opening.
  • Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • Enia offers the whip after Fire Giant. Burn, O Flame! is the alternative; duplicate the remembrance at a compatible site if you want both in the same journey.
