Where to find
Mountaintops of the Giants
Starting Site of Grace: Shack of the Lofty
Before you go
- Complete the first two Manor contracts and obtain the Red Letter.
- Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants.
- At Volcano Manor in Mt. Gelmir, speak to Tanith beside the armored knight and agree to join. Take the Drawing-Room Key and open the drawing room down the corridor. Collect the Letter from Volcano Manor from its table.
- Read the letter to mark Old Knight Istvan on the map. In Limgrave, start at Warmaster's Shack east of Stormhill Shack and head north toward the colosseum. Find the red invasion sign below the approach to its entrance.
- Use the red sign and defeat Old Knight Istvan in his world. This is the contract target, rather than a roaming knight. Winning gives all four regular Scaled armor pieces directly.
- Return to Tanith and report the completed request for Magma Shot. Her spell reward is separate from the armor, and reporting the kill makes the next letter available.
- Collect the second Letter from Volcano Manor from the drawing-room table. It names Rileigh the Idle in the Altus valley south of the Shaded Castle.
- From Bridge of Iniquity, cross east and go south to the spiritspring. Use Torrent to descend safely in the spring, then continue southwest to the second spiritspring and descend again to the valley floor.
- Head north through the valley to the red sign at the letter's map marker. Defeat Rileigh for Crepus's Vial and 20 Black-Key Bolts. Return to Tanith for Serpentbone Blade before continuing the manor quests.
- Collect the Red Letter from the drawing-room table. It marks Juno Hoslow, Knight of Blood, near Shack of the Lofty in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
- For the normal Mountaintops route, defeat Morgott in Leyndell, receive the Rold Medallion from Melina and follow the eastern capital exit through Forbidden Lands to the Grand Lift of Rold. Hoist the ordinary Rold Medallion, rather than the Haligtree secret medallion.
- Follow the Mountaintops route past Zamor Ruins and the long narrow bridge to Ancient Snow Valley Ruins. From that grace, head northeast to the frozen stream, then turn west toward Shack of the Lofty.
- Find Juno's red sign just northeast of the shack, near the letter's map marker. Use it and defeat him for Hoslow's Helm, Armor, Gauntlets, Greaves and Hoslow's Petal Whip. His paired whips build blood loss, so avoid standing in their reach through a long combination.
- Return to Tanith for the separate Taker's Cameo reward. Finish the manor's other NPC assignments before Rykard even if Juno's Red Letter is already available.
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Jarburg
- Speak to Diallos at Roundtable Hold about Lanya. In Liurnia, travel northwest from Academy Gate Town grace to the sunken rooftops and find him beside her body. Finish his dialogue, then speak to him again at the Hold.
- Join Volcano Manor through Tanith and speak to Diallos in the drawing room. Return to his dialogue as the contracts progress. After he becomes disillusioned and leaves, his next destination is Jarburg; Rykard's defeat can also move him onward.
- For Jarburg, approach the cliff south of Carian Study Hall on eastern Liurnia's plateau. Descend the large gravestones projecting from the cliff one at a time to the village below, rather than jumping straight down.
- Activate Jarburg grace and speak to Jar-Bairn, the small jar sitting on the house steps. Agree to become Potentate and keep returning after rest or travel to finish his changing dialogue. Do not attack the peaceful jars.
- When Jar-Bairn says Diallos has arrived, find him in the northeastern shack tending a jar. Speak to him and Jar-Bairn, then continue resting or reloading until the poacher attack changes the village.
- Speak to the dying Diallos on the village path. Either answer about defending the jars leads to the equipment reward. Reload and finish Jar-Bairn's scene beside him, then reload again.
- Loot Diallos's former position for Diallos's Mask and Hoslow's Petal Whip. Alexander's Innards belong to Jar-Bairn's later reward and are not required to collect these two items.
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Academy Gate Town
Before you go
- Diallos must still be beside Lanya.
- This method kills Diallos and ends his Jarburg story.
- Find Diallos beside Lanya's body on the sunken rooftops northwest of Academy Gate Town grace. He appears here while looking for her during his early quest.
- If you choose to kill him now, defeat him for Diallos's Mask and Hoslow's Petal Whip. This ends his later story; use the Jarburg route instead if you want to follow it.
- He does not drop the full Hoslow armor he is wearing. Juno Hoslow's separate Manor contract provides the regular armor set.
Notes
- Requires 10 Strength and 20 Dexterity, and weighs 3.5. Standard affinity favors Dexterity over Strength. Blood or Occult can provide Arcane scaling when that is the direction you want for a bleed build.
- Has 55 native blood loss buildup on Standard affinity. Keen preserves that bleed, but Arcane does not improve its buildup unless the weapon actually has Arcane scaling.
- Its blood-loss burst has a larger fixed damage component than most ordinary innate-bleed weapons: 200 rather than 100, alongside the percentage-of-maximum-HP portion. That percentage can vary with the target, so it is not one universal damage number against every boss.
- Cold and Poison variants retain native bleed at a base 50 buildup while adding their other ailment. Blood affinity changes the bleed amount and scaling; it does not add an independent second bleed meter.
- Its ordinary whip strikes cannot be parried. It cannot perform a backstab or riposte, even though its equipment entry displays a critical rating. Keep another weapon ready if you want to use a stance-break opening for a critical hit.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Kick is its default skill and costs no FP. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones to +25. It deals physical Strike damage, and its armor-shaped petals do not make it a Slash-only weapon.
- Juno and Diallos each provide one copy, so two can be obtained in a single journey without trading. Follow Diallos's Jarburg story if you want his copy without killing him early.
- Juno's Red Letter invasion can remain available after Rykard, while Diallos has his own quest progression. Diallos gives his distinct mask with the whip, not Juno's entire armor set.
