Weeping Peninsula

Starting Site of Grace: Beside the Rampart Gaol

  1. From Behind the Castle, descend the outer ledges and roofs toward the lower ramparts. Continue past the tower with the Twinblade Talisman, then drop onto the next roof and cross to the building with an opening in its roof.
  2. Drop through the opening one wooden beam at a time to reach the prison room below. Deal with the rats and loot the corpse for the Whip.
  3. Leave the room and turn left to activate Beside the Rampart Gaol. If you already have that grace, you can return directly to the adjoining prison room for the pickup.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 8 Strength and 14 Dexterity and weighs 2. Dexterity is its stronger Standard attribute, though the two scaling letters initially look similar.
  • Its ordinary attacks deal Strike damage. That gives a Dexterity-focused character a light option against enemies whose hard bodies resist slashing weapons.
  • Ordinary whip attacks cannot be parried and do not bounce off a shield like a small blade. They can still be blocked, and the whip does not ignore all guarding damage negation.
  • It cannot perform backstabs or ripostes, despite the 100 critical value displayed with its weapon stats. Switch to another weapon when you want to use a critical opening.
  • Starts with Kick, which costs no FP and attacks guarding stamina. A successful guard break does not make the Whip itself capable of performing the follow-up riposte.
  • It has no innate bleed. Blood affinity can add bleed, but Occult by itself does not create a missing status effect.
  • Whips have a narrower compatible skill selection than ordinary swords. You can still use compatible utility skills, with coatings available on an affinity that permits weapon buffs.
