About this spirit
Costs 74 FP and summons five greatshield soldiers. Upgrade the whole group with Grave Glovewort.
Their shields handle many ordinary physical attacks from the front. Several soldiers can surround a target and keep it occupied while you attack from another angle.
They also bash at close range and throw magic-damage pots that can build Frostbite. Their value is not limited to standing behind shields.

In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon five greatshield soldier spirits.
Spirits of greatshield soldiers who belonged to the Fallen Hawks, a band of soldiers that once explored the Eternal City. Stout defenders with a steady guard.
Though their methods are somewhat crude, they work well as a squadron, and will attract the attention of enemies or lob ghostflame from the rearguard.
Where to find
Graves southeast of the city grace
Nokron, Eternal City
Starting Site of Grace: Nokron, Eternal City
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn, then go to the new crater south of Mistwood in Limgrave. Descend the floating rocks and enter Nokron over its rooftops.
- Continue across the roofs and through the building to Nokron, Eternal City. Activate this grace before entering the open square.
- Go down the stairs and head east across the square. Look to the right for the small graveyard with stone markers.
- Deal with the nearby Fallen Hawk soldier and loot the corpse among the graves. The Mimic Tear boss farther along the city route is not required for this pickup.
Notes
- Costs 74 FP and summons five greatshield soldiers. Upgrade the whole group with Grave Glovewort.
- Their shields handle many ordinary physical attacks from the front. Several soldiers can surround a target and keep it occupied while you attack from another angle.
- They also bash at close range and throw magic-damage pots that can build Frostbite. Their value is not limited to standing behind shields.
- Attacks from above, below or behind can bypass their protection. Wide elemental attacks can hit all five, so their strong performance against physical melee does not cover every boss.
- The enemy can still turn toward the player. Wait for an actual opening instead of assuming five soldiers guarantee safe healing.
- The graveyard corpse is reached before Nokron's Mimic Tear boss. Defeating Radahn opens the crater approach, but the Mimic Tear is optional for these ashes.
