Use to summon the spirit of a Kaiden sellsword.

Spirit of a mercenary belonging to a horse-riding folk. Skillfully uses a massive blade made for dismounting other riders, and enhances his already considerable strength with war cries.

The sellswords of Kaiden made their prowess known on countless battlefields.

Cliffbottom Catacombs

Starting Site of Grace: Cliffbottom Catacombs

1. From Liurnia Highway North grace, descend along the outside of the eastern cliff. Loop around the sloping rock at the bottom and look back along the cliff face for Cliffbottom Catacombs.
2. Activate the entrance grace and take the lift down. Clear the imps in the first corridor, including the one hiding around the right corner. Descend to the locked boss doors, then take the passage to their right.
3. Follow the passage into the large chamber where stairs cross above a deep Omen-filled floor. The lever is visible across the chamber but cannot be reached directly from these stairs.
4. Drop from the stairway to the lower Omen chamber. Use the grass and corners to keep the patrolling Omen from noticing you, or clear the enemies one at a time. The bones underfoot can alert them.
5. Take the eastern passage out of the lower chamber. Avoid its floor trap and follow the twisting corridor past the next Omen to the ladder at the far end. Do not stop on the ladder approach if the Omen is following.
6. Climb the ladder. An Omen faces an altar on the left; Page Ashes are the fixed pickup at that altar. The right-hand hallway continues toward the boss lever.
7. Take the hallway on the right, clear the imp ambush near its end and pull the lever. Drop from the lever ledge onto the stairs, then follow the entry passage back to the boss doors.
8. Go through the opened doors and defeat the staff-wielding Erdtree Burial Watchdog. It awards Kaiden Sellsword Ashes directly. The boss can cast Magic projectiles, so use the room's pillars as cover while waiting for a safe attack opening.

Notes

• Costs 88 FP to summon one Kaiden sellsword on foot. Upgrade him through Roderika with Grave Glovewort to +10, using Great Grave Glovewort for the final upgrade.
• He uses War Cry to strengthen his weapon attacks and can follow it with a forceful charge. The roar does not mean he automatically buffs the player's weapon too.
• His wide swings can interrupt smaller enemies and catch several close targets. Larger enemies that withstand the blows can punish him during the attack.
• His aggression is useful when you keep fighting alongside him. Leaving every attack aimed at him can exhaust his HP before a longer fight is settled.
• War Cry is his own weapon buff. Suitable body and aura buffs, such as Barrier of Gold or Golden Vow, can still help him; his roar does not grant the same weapon bonus to you.
• The Watchdog in Cliffbottom Catacombs awards him. Page Ashes are a separate corpse pickup beside the upper seated Omen.
• His curved greatsword deals physical slash damage. The charge can throw susceptible human-sized enemies, but will not reliably launch a large boss or interrupt every attack.
