About this spirit

Summons three Man-Flies for only 29 FP. Two attack from the air, while the third stays behind them and spits Poison.

The rear role matters: these are not three identical melee insects. Summoning the whole group directly underneath a boss can interrupt the poison-spitter before it contributes.

Poison needs buildup on a susceptible enemy. The mist is not an automatic status proc against an immune boss or a direct Scarlet Rot effect.

Technical details

Separate summoning cost and upgrade fields are not recorded for this spirit. The description and notes contain the reviewed information.

In-game description

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirits of three man-flies.

Two of the man-flies attack foes from the air, while the third spits poison from the rear.

Afflicted hornsent eventually metamorphosed into a fly-like form. It was believed that the moment the transformation took place, they were relieved from their suffering.

Where to find

Village of Flies

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Recluses' River Downstream

  1. To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  2. For the main Shadow Keep approach, defeat the Golden Hippopotamus and activate Main Gate Plaza grace. Follow the left-hand route through the keep to the upper courtyard lined with burning boats. Watch for the Militiamen hiding beside them.
  3. At the southeastern end of the boat courtyard, find the ladder beside the outer railing and descend to the water. Walk behind the waterfall and take the second ladder down to the painting room.
  4. Strike the false wall beside the Domain of Dragons painting. Follow the revealed passage and rest in the stone coffin to arrive at Castle Watering Hole.
  5. Head south past Ruins of Unte, avoiding the active Furnace Golem. Follow the eastern, left-hand cliff beside the waterfall to Recluses' River Upstream grace.
  6. Continue south along the cliff ledges. Where the route changes sides, jump across to the western, right-hand bank and follow it down to Recluses' River Downstream grace. Clear nearby Man-Flies before attempting the drops.
  7. Take the path southwest toward the ruined settlement called Village of Flies. Follow its uphill branch through the Man-Flies rather than dropping all the way to the lower river.
  8. Clear the gathering around the body at the upper end of the village and loot the Man-Fly Ashes.
  9. The ashes are a fixed corpse pickup at the upper end of the settlement. Darklight Catacombs and its boss Jori lie farther down the river and are unnecessary.

Notes

  • Summons three Man-Flies for only 29 FP. Two attack from the air, while the third stays behind them and spits Poison.
  • The rear role matters: these are not three identical melee insects. Summoning the whole group directly underneath a boss can interrupt the poison-spitter before it contributes.
  • Poison needs buildup on a susceptible enemy. The mist is not an automatic status proc against an immune boss or a direct Scarlet Rot effect.
  • Their low cost makes them accessible distractions, but broad attacks can hit several at once. Three bodies do not provide the durability of a heavily armored knight.
  • Village of Flies contains hostile insects as well as the corpse holding the ashes. Farming those enemies supplies crafting drops, rather than a random chance to obtain this summon.
  • The village is reached from the upper Recluses' River route. You do not need to descend through Darklight Catacombs or defeat Jori.
  • Costs 29 FP for the whole summon. Upgrade with Grave Glovewort through +10 at Roderika's spirit tuning, rather than using Ghost Glovewort or reinforcing the ashes at a blacksmith.
  • The ashes are reusable. You need the Spirit Calling Bell and an area where the rebirth-monument icon allows Spirit Ashes; owning enough FP does not allow summoning everywhere.
