About this spirit
Costs 660 HP instead of FP. Have more HP than the payment available and summon early enough to heal before an enemy reaches you.
Copies your equipped weapons, armor, talismans, spells and usable items when summoned. Changing your equipment afterward does not redirect its existing loadout.
Its AI chooses actions independently. A smaller selection of suitable spells and items can produce more useful choices than giving it many competing options.

In-game description
Legendary ashen remains.
Use to summon the spirit of a mimic tear.
Summoning consumes HP rather than FP.
This spirit takes the form of the summoner to fight alongside them, but its mimicry does not extend to imitating the summoner's will.
Mimic tears are the result of an attempt by the Eternal City to forge a lord.
Where to find
Night's Sacred Ground chapel
Nokron, Eternal City
Starting Site of Grace: Ancestral Woods
Before you go
- Defeat Radahn and the Mimic Tear boss.
- Bring one Stonesword Key.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn at the Radahn Festival in Redmane Castle. His defeat opens the starfall crater in Limgrave; it is not the sealed Siofra River overlook reached from the Four Belfries.
- Return to the Mistwood near Fort Haight and find the new crater marked by floating rocks. Use the descending ledges and openings to enter Nokron, Eternal City.
- Follow the rooftops down into Nokron's streets, then continue to the Mimic Tear boss. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond the arena.
- Leave the bridge on the left where it opens into woodland. Follow the western cliff to Ancestral Woods grace, overlooking the lower rooftops.
- From beside the grace, drop to the roof below. Follow the roofs and narrow building ledges, fighting or avoiding the Silver Tears, until you can cross the broken stone arch into the large church.
- After crossing the broken arch and entering the church window, stay on the upper floor. The altar holds Black Whetblade; the giant rolling ball and lower exit are beneath you.
- Take the southeastern side corridor to the imp statue. Spend one Stonesword Key to remove its mist, then deal with the Nox Swordstress kneeling in the room.
- Open the chest behind the Swordstress to collect Mimic Tear Ashes. The Mimic Tear boss on the earlier bridge route does not award this summon, and you do not need to reach the lower street or Fingerslayer Blade chest.
Notes
- Costs 660 HP instead of FP. Have more HP than the payment available and summon early enough to heal before an enemy reaches you.
- Copies your equipped weapons, armor, talismans, spells and usable items when summoned. Changing your equipment afterward does not redirect its existing loadout.
- Its AI chooses actions independently. A smaller selection of suitable spells and items can produce more useful choices than giving it many competing options.
- Its direct damage is not identical to the player's with the same equipment. Healing and status buildup are separate from that direct-damage reduction.
- Copied consumables do not spend your inventory. Raw Meat Dumplings can provide repeat healing without their usual Poison drawback because the Mimic is immune to Poison.
- Unlike most spirits, it can suffer Death Blight. Its slower opening transformation also leaves several seconds before it begins helping.
- Upgrade it with Ghost Glovewort. It is one of the six legendary ashen remains; the Mimic Tear boss itself does not award the ashes.
- At +10, its maximum HP is 3.3 times that of its own unupgraded version. This compares the spirit's upgrade levels, not its health against your character's current HP.
- It has effectively unlimited FP for its skills and spells. A low-FP player can still use it because the initial summoning payment is HP, but that does not remove your own weapon and spell requirements.
- With Blessing of Marika equipped when you summon it, the copy can use the blessing without consuming your scarce supply. Its AI still decides when to heal, so giving it the item does not guarantee a timely rescue.
- Its ordinary upgrade progression is separate from the extra strengthening granted to other spirits at +8 and above. Do not assume every Spirit Ash balance bonus also applies to the Mimic.
