About this spirit
Summons two soldiers with different roles: one has a flaming greatsword, while the other uses a sword and torch. Their attacks also include Fire pots and torch breath.
They patrol near the place you summon them instead of reliably following you across a large arena. Choose the summoning position carefully or bring the enemy into their reach.
Their attacks combine physical and Fire damage. Fire resistance lowers that elemental contribution, rather than removing all the damage from a sword hit.

In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirits of two of Radahn's soldiers.
Both spirits wield fiery weapons to perform powerful skills. Such is their valor that they will immediately attack after being summoned.
General Radahn's soldiers were all reputed to be masterful warriors, and it was popularly said that the Redmanes knew no weakness.
Where to find
Scarlet Rot side room in War-Dead Catacombs
Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: War-Dead Catacombs
Before you go
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn and ride to the far northern cliff of his beach arena. Follow the wall to the catacomb doors and activate the grace inside.
- Descend to the hall where ghost soldiers fight each other. Take the stairs at the back right and follow the upper corridor, watching for the archer firing along it.
- Continue around the corners toward the dead-end knight room. Just before it, jump through the window on the right onto the lower platform.
- Climb the stairs on the left past the imps. Instead of jumping through the next window toward the archer and lever, enter the side room filled with Scarlet Rot.
- Watch for the Cleanrot Knight apparition and loot the body in the room for the ashes. You can collect them without defeating the Putrid Tree Spirit.
Notes
- Summons two soldiers with different roles: one has a flaming greatsword, while the other uses a sword and torch. Their attacks also include Fire pots and torch breath.
- They patrol near the place you summon them instead of reliably following you across a large arena. Choose the summoning position carefully or bring the enemy into their reach.
- Their attacks combine physical and Fire damage. Fire resistance lowers that elemental contribution, rather than removing all the damage from a sword hit.
- The greatsword soldier's upward attack can launch suitable smaller targets. Large enemies and bosses do not all react with the same interruption.
- They are a coordinated melee pair rather than copies of your own armor, weapon or Fire incantations. Your Faith does not directly determine their damage.
- The ashes are in War-Dead Catacombs' Scarlet Rot side room. Radahn must be defeated to reach that dungeon, while its Putrid Tree Spirit is optional and awards Redmane Knight Ogha instead.
- Costs 71 FP for the whole summon. Upgrade with Grave Glovewort through +10 at Roderika's spirit tuning, rather than using Ghost Glovewort or reinforcing the ashes at a blacksmith.
- The ashes are reusable. You need the Spirit Calling Bell and an area where the rebirth-monument icon allows Spirit Ashes; owning enough FP does not allow summoning everywhere.
