Miquella's Haligtree

Starting Site of Grace: Prayer Room

Before you go

  • Reach Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree.
  1. Reach Elphael by solving Ordina's evergaol puzzle, taking its waygate to Miquella's Haligtree and progressing down the branches and through Haligtree Town. Defeat Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree, then use the ladder and lift beyond her arena to reach Prayer Room.
  2. Leave Prayer Room onto the ramparts and look down to the right for the Putrid Avatar patrolling the wide outer walkway.
  3. Follow the ramparts to the second sloping stone support connecting to a tower. Jump onto that support, descend around the tower's ledges and drop onto the Avatar's walkway.
  4. Defeat the patrolling Avatar to receive the Rotten Staff. This is the outer walkway enemy below Prayer Room, rather than the Avatar beside Elphael Inner Wall.
  5. The patrolling Avatar gives a guaranteed staff. Check the ground for a possible additional weapon drop as well. The separate Avatar near Elphael Inner Wall can also produce the random weapon drop, but does not replace this guaranteed pickup route.

Notes

  • Requires 34 Strength and 8 Dexterity and weighs 18.0. Ordinary hits deal strike physical damage with stronger Strength scaling and weaker Dexterity scaling. There is no Faith requirement or holy damage on those ordinary weapon hits.
  • Has 75 Scarlet Rot buildup on weapon hits. This fixed buildup does not increase with Arcane or weapon reinforcement. It must fill the target's resistance bar before rot starts, and immune enemies cannot be infected.
  • Erdtree Slam costs 19 FP and includes holy damage even though the staff's ordinary attack display has no holy damage. The skill is a leap and area slam, not the Putrid Avatar's large spreading rot-pool attack.
  • Shard of Alexander can strengthen Erdtree Slam. Claw Talisman does not turn the skill into an ordinary jump attack, and Godfrey Icon does not apply because it cannot be charged.
  • Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. The skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or a weapon enchantment cannot be applied. Upgrading improves direct damage rather than the listed 75 rot buildup.
  • The outer Elphael Avatar gives the fixed reward, with a separate 8% weapon-drop roll at 100 Discovery. It is possible to receive the guaranteed copy and find another on the ground. These Avatars do not respawn after resting, so this is not an unlimited farm.
  • It is a Colossal Weapon, not a spell catalyst. It cannot cast the sorceries in your memory slots.
