About this spirit
Costs 35 FP and summons one dog whose bites build Scarlet Rot. Upgrade it with Grave Glovewort.
Several successful bites may be needed before Rot triggers. One bite does not guarantee that a boss receives the damage-over-time effect.
The dog is fragile, so occupy the enemy while it attacks. Leaving it to trade hits alone can get it killed before the buildup reaches its threshold.

In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirit of a rotten stray.
Spirit of a stray dog corrupted by the scarlet rot.
Though it is only a small creature, it is as violent as it is nimble, and its fangs fester with poisonous rot.
Where to find
Ruined building north of Sellia Under-Stair
Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: Sellia Under-Stair
- Reach Sellia on the eastern edge of the Swamp of Aeonia. Activate Sellia Under-Stair at the town's southwestern approach.
- Stay on the lower outskirts and head north from the grace. Look for the ruined building beside the shallow rot water, with a hostile rotten dog nearby.
- Kill or draw away the dog, then loot the body inside the ruin for the ashes. Do not stop in the rot to read the item menu.
- The town's tower braziers and magical seals are not required for this pickup. You can collect it before completing Sellia's puzzle.
Notes
- Costs 35 FP and summons one dog whose bites build Scarlet Rot. Upgrade it with Grave Glovewort.
- Several successful bites may be needed before Rot triggers. One bite does not guarantee that a boss receives the damage-over-time effect.
- The dog is fragile, so occupy the enemy while it attacks. Leaving it to trade hits alone can get it killed before the buildup reaches its threshold.
- A rot-immune enemy removes its main status advantage. Its direct bites remain separate from whether Scarlet Rot can be applied.
- Some boss phase changes clear ailments. An early Rot application is not a guarantee of continuous damage through an entire multi-phase fight.
- The corpse lies in the lower ruin north of Sellia Under-Stair. The town's rooftop braziers and magical seals are unnecessary for these ashes.
