Ceremonial staff depicting the Erdtree in its historic radiance. Wielded by the avatars who protect the Minor Erdtrees.

The avatars, emerging in the wake of the Elden Ring's shattering, were determined to protect the withering Erdtree's offspring.

Before you go

  • Reach Deeproot Depths.
  1. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at the Radahn Festival in Redmane Castle. His defeat opens the starfall crater in Limgrave; it is not the sealed Siofra River overlook reached from the Four Belfries.
  2. Return to the Mistwood near Fort Haight and find the new crater marked by floating rocks. Use the descending ledges and openings to enter Nokron, Eternal City.
  3. Follow the rooftops down into Nokron's streets, then continue to the Mimic Tear boss. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond the arena.
  4. Leave the bridge on the left where it opens into woodland. Follow the western cliff to Ancestral Woods grace, overlooking the lower rooftops.
  5. From the upper woodland, go toward the trees beside Hallowhorn Grounds and the Spirit Jellyfish along the northern cliff. Use the lower ledge below the edge, then follow the descending path into the cave to Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs grace. You do not need to light the ancestor pillars.
  6. Leave the cave toward the aqueduct. Drop onto the stone support leading to the building, then onto the lower ledge. A Crucible Knight patrols nearby, so wait for an opening before moving across.
  7. Continue toward the building with water pouring out. Another Crucible Knight stands by the waterfall. Go north through the water channel, turn into the area on the right and climb the stairs through the arch. D's twin sits near this approach to the boss.
  8. Defeat both Valiant Gargoyles. Afterward, activate Great Waterfall Basin grace and rest in the coffin beside the waterfall to reach Deeproot Depths.
  9. From Great Waterfall Crest, leave the arrival area and follow the broad roots toward the nearby open clearing.
  10. Find the Erdtree Avatar in this clearing and defeat it to receive the staff. The Avatars at ordinary Minor Erdtrees give different rewards.

Notes

  • Requires 34 Strength, 8 Dexterity and 24 Faith and weighs 20.0. It deals strike physical damage plus holy damage. Strength is the strongest physical scaling attribute, Dexterity adds less, and Faith improves the holy portion.
  • Erdtree Slam costs 19 FP. You leap up and land in a heavy area attack with holy damage. It can knock smaller enemies down, but its preparation and recovery leave openings for a boss that continues through the hit.
  • The leap is a weapon skill rather than an ordinary jumping attack. Shard of Alexander boosts the skill, while Claw Talisman does not apply simply because you leave the ground. It is not chargeable and does not gain Godfrey Icon's bonus.
  • Ordinary holy damage does not automatically give the anti-revival effect of a blessing such as Sacred Blade. Finish a fallen skeleton's glowing remains if it begins assembling again.
  • Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. The skill and normal affinity are fixed, and grease or a weapon enchantment cannot be applied.
  • Despite the name, this is a Colossal Weapon for melee attacks and Erdtree Slam. It cannot cast sorceries or incantations.
  • The particular Erdtree Avatar near Deeproot Depths' arrival point awards it. Minor Erdtree bosses elsewhere have different rewards, so they are not a repeatable farm for this staff.
