Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Lift
- From Agheel Lake South, follow the southern road over Bridge of Sacrifice into the Weeping Peninsula. Watch for the ballista at the far end of the bridge.
- Continue south along the main road past Castle Morne Rampart grace toward the castle on the coast. Avoid the giant archer's shots on the exposed final approach.
- Enter Castle Morne, activate Castle Morne Lift grace and ride the lift into the courtyard.
- Keep to the right and pass the burning mound of bodies, watching for dogs and Misbegotten. Use the doorway just beyond the mound on that side.
- Continue through the room with the Claymore chest and take its rear stairs down. Cross the small yard where soldiers and Misbegotten fight, then climb the ladder on the left.
- At the upper rampart, turn left onto the narrow dead-end walkway. Get past the two Misbegotten and loot Steel-Wire Torch from the corpse at its end. Leonine Misbegotten on the beach is not required.
Notes
- Requires 10 Strength and eight Dexterity, and weighs three. Dexterity gives its physical damage stronger scaling than Strength. Its Fire portion improves with reinforcement and has no attribute scaling.
- Firebreather is its fixed eight-FP skill. It sprays flame in front of you, giving it a broader attack than an ordinary torch jab, but the windup leaves an opening for nearby enemies.
- The wire and higher Fire damage belong to this weapon. Holding it does not increase the damage of another weapon, Fire Pot or incantation.
- Cannot use another Ash of War or affinity. In particular, it cannot replace Firebreather with No Skill to pass the skill input straight to your other hand.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
- The normal left-hand torch stance can provide light. It does not inherit Sentry's visibility effect or the Beast-Repellent Torch's incense effect.
- A fixed corpse pickup on Castle Morne's upper battlement. The enemies guarding it do not need to drop it, and neither Edgar's quest nor the castle boss is required.
