About this armor

Raises thorn sorcery damage by 6% while worn. It works without the other matching pieces, and increases damage rather than blood loss buildup.

The qualifying sorceries include Briars of Sin, Briars of Punishment, Impenetrable Thorns and Mantle of Thorns. Aspects of the Crucible: Thorns is an incantation and does not receive this bonus.

The hat, regular robe and bracers multiply together for about 19.1% more qualifying damage. The trousers add no spell bonus, and changing the robe to its altered version removes the robe's contribution.

Where to find

Fortified Manor main hall

Leyndell, Royal Capital

Starting Site of Grace: Fortified Manor, First Floor

Before you go

  • Collect this before defeating Maliketh, while Leyndell is still the Royal Capital.
  1. Collect the outfit before defeating Maliketh, while Leyndell is still the Royal Capital. The corpse is inside Fortified Manor, not at Roundtable Hold.
  2. From Avenue Balcony, go down the northwest stairs and continue toward the huge petrified dragon. Climb its wing to the upper walkway, then take the passage and stairs to West Capital Rampart grace.
  3. From West Capital Rampart, go southeast down the nearby stairs. Follow the lower corridor past the Oracle Envoys and pull the lever to open the large gate below.
  4. Look west toward Fortified Manor. Drop from the lower walkway to the courtyard and go through the manor's large ground-level doorway. The nearby stable roofs lead to its upper floor, which is a different entrance.
  5. Search the large entrance hall for the corpse on the red carpet. Loot it for Alberich's Pointed Hat, Robe, Bracers and Trousers together. Fortified Manor, First Floor grace is in a side room.
  6. The red invasion sign in this building is part of Bernahl's assignment. You do not need to join that invasion or defeat Mad Tongue Alberich at Roundtable Hold to collect the outfit.

Notes

  • The qualifying sorceries include Briars of Sin, Briars of Punishment, Impenetrable Thorns and Mantle of Thorns. Aspects of the Crucible: Thorns is an incantation and does not receive this bonus.
  • The hat, regular robe and bracers multiply together for about 19.1% more qualifying damage. The trousers add no spell bonus, and changing the robe to its altered version removes the robe's contribution.
  • The armor does not supply the spell requirements or a casting tool. Use a staff and meet the requirements of the particular sorcery you want to cast.
  • Weighs 1.7 and provides 2 poise. Its low physical protection and poise make it a spell-boosting choice rather than protection for trading hits.
  • Can be altered into the blindfold version, which weighs 1 and provides 1 poise. The altered hat keeps the same 6% bonus, so you can save weight without losing its thorn damage effect.
