Starting Site of Grace: Guest Hall
Before you go
- Reach the Prison Town section of Volcano Manor.
- If you have not entered the dungeon yet, speak to Tanith in Volcano Manor and accept her invitation to get the Drawing-Room Key. Open the first room on the right in the corridor. Roll into or strike the illusory wall in the back-right corner to reveal a passage. Follow it downstairs, past the snails and Bloodhound Knight, to the Prison Town Church grace.
- Leave the church through its large doors and take the path downhill to the right. Follow the outer wall, watching for the Abductor Virgin. When the path splits at the stairs, cross the bridge toward the large building guarded by a Man-Serpent. Its front door is locked, so go around the right side to the ladder.
- Climb onto the roof and cross to its southern side. Look over the western edge for a narrow balcony with an open doorway and a lit lantern. Drop onto that balcony and enter the room.
- An Omenkiller is inside. Deal with it or keep clear of its attacks while collecting the Albinauric Staff and Albinauric Mask from the body in the room.
- If you already have Guest Hall unlocked, leave the grace room, turn left, then left again into the hall with the hanging Albinaurics. Climb both flights of stairs and leave through the northern door guarded by a Man-Serpent. Turn left outside and left around the corner to reach the same roof ladder.
Notes
- Arcane gives it stronger casting scaling than Intelligence at equal investment, but both stats improve its sorceries. At +25, 45 Intelligence and 45 Arcane give 327 sorcery scaling, compared with 297 at 10 Intelligence and 80 Arcane. The balanced spread uses the same combined 90 points in those two stats.
- Arcane improves the blood loss buildup of compatible sorceries cast with this staff. It does not add blood loss to a spell that has none, and it does not turn every status effect into an Arcane-scaling effect. Frostbite is a separate case.
- Scholar's Armament only uses the Intelligence contribution to the staff's sorcery scaling. The Arcane contribution does not increase that enchantment, so the displayed total can make this staff look better for weapon buffs than it really is.
- You still need each spell's own requirements. Meeting the staff's 10 Intelligence and 12 Arcane requirements does not let you cast a sorcery that asks for more Intelligence or Faith.
- It starts with No Skill. Can use the compatible Spinning Weapon Ash of War, but it does not use the normal melee weapon affinity system. Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied to the staff itself.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones, up to +25. The Albinauric Mask is on the same pickup route, but the staff's casting behavior does not depend on wearing the mask.
