Before you go

  • Choose Prisoner as your starting class.
  1. Prisoner starts with Glintstone Staff. It is a different staff from Astrologer's Staff, which belongs to the Astrologer starting class.

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Waypoint Ruins Cellar

  1. Find Waypoint Ruins east of Agheel Lake, along the road through eastern Limgrave. The large poisonous flowers mark the ruins. Defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head downstairs gives you a nearby grace, but is not required to reach the staff outside.
  2. Leave the ruins and head south toward the large broken stone structure west of the small graveyard with wolves. Look beside and behind the ruined wall for the lone robed noble who casts glintstone spells.
  3. Defeat that particular noble and collect the dropped item from the ground. His first staff drop is guaranteed; most other noble sorcerers only have a small random chance.
  4. For further copies, defeat staff-using Wandering Nobles and repeat after resting. Examples include the sorcerers following the troll carriage east of Agheel Lake. Sword-carrying nobles drop different weapons.

Notes

  • Requires 6 Strength and 10 Intelligence and weighs 3.0. Its sorcery scaling uses Intelligence alone. Strength improves striking an enemy with the staff, rather than the sorceries you cast through it.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. At that upgrade it has 291 sorcery scaling at 60 Intelligence and 329 at 80 Intelligence. Academy Glintstone Staff has higher scaling at both values, so continuing to upgrade the starter staff is convenient rather than automatically the strongest choice.
  • There is no extra spell-school bonus or increased spell FP cost. Memorize a sorcery at a grace, meet that spell's requirements and use the attack button for the hand holding the staff. This staff does not cast incantations.
  • Starts with No Skill and can use the compatible Spinning Weapon Ash of War. This gives you a close-range skill without changing the staff's casting attribute, spell requirements or normal affinity. Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • Prisoner starts with it, but every class can get a copy from the particular Sorcerer Noble south of Waypoint Ruins. Ordinary staff-carrying Wandering Nobles have about a 2% chance at 100 Discovery, so the guaranteed first drop is the easier option.
  • This is a different weapon from Astrologer's Staff. Buying that staff or starting as Astrologer does not give you this one.
